Sadly, the Visitors aren’t among us any longer. After two short seasons, ABC has cancelled their V TV series.
A reimagining of the original V, this series tells the tale of what happens when an advanced alien race arrives of Earth professing their desire to help mankind. Fortunately, not everyone trusts them. The second season features the talents of Charles Mesure, Elizabeth Mitchell as Erica Evans, Joel Gretsch, Laura Vandervoort, Logan Huffman, Morena Baccarin, Morris Chestnut, and Scott Wolf.
For season one, V ended up averaging a 2.25 rating in the coveted 18-49 demographic and 5.7 million average viewers. It was “on the bubble” but ended up being renewed for a 13 episode second season. The network was hoping that the show would catch on and the ratings would improve.

ABC later reduced the episode order to just 10 installments and debuted them mid-season. Unfortunately, ABC’s gamble didn’t pay off. Season two of V ended up averaging only a 1.9 in the demo and 5.49 million viewers.
Though the network and producers maintained that the show was still in contention for next season, it was clear that there would only be a third season of V if ABC was willing to gamble once again. In the end, they weren’t.
ABC confirmed today that V has been cancelled after two seasons and 22 episodes. The series finale aired on March 15th and, unfortunately, there were lots of unresolved cliffhangers. Hopefully the producers will someday share what they had in mind for season three.
What do you think? Are you sad that V won’t be returning next season? Why do you think the series didn’t catch on?

i was mad to see they cancelled season 3
Bring it back to SCI-FI channel. Everything else has it’s own channel now. They cancelled soap operas on regular tv, but are now shown on the soap opera channel. Do the same for V.
I cannot believe ABC cancelled V! It was one of the few series that has been able to keep me interested and look forward to next weeks episode. Like others have said I believe the major reason for V’s poor ratings would be the time slot and the fact the show just wouldn’t come on some weeks. Also the break between seasons were way too long. I did love this show and I really hope another network picks it up because I cannot believe ABC left it with such a a cliffhanger!
This sucks great cast good effects good story bad decision on the part of abc
I am so dissapointed!!! I REALLY enjoyed this show. I was a huge fan of the origanal “V” back in the 80’s and was a skeptic at first for the remake, but I was NOT dissatisfied at the writer perspective at all! Loved the story line, excellant actors, and special effects were above average! To end the show with the clifhanger and cancel the show…VERY DISAPPOINTED to say the least! There has got to be a way to bring this back…Right?
I loved the show think it failed because the slot time. I missed it when I got to busy then I would be pretty irritated that I had forgotten but most of the time I was still at work when it aired. I even took the day off a couple times to watch. Then I got so far behind I couldn’t keep up so I figured it would go on Netflix and I’d just wait and watch it all at once! Gosh I loved this show and my boyfriend was even starting to get into it to and he doesn’t… Read more »
Bring it back!
They need to give this series a chance. At least let some other network take it over.
i believe the reason V didn’t catch on is because on some channel (i forgot which one) V the original, was shown just before the new V was to premier. i watched to my disappointment (the original V). the main story line was exposed and i was not impressed. however i watched the series premier of the V with a pleasant discovery. the people were elegant and cunning; the writers were very creative. it was then i decided to see if the story line could keep me interested with the new application. the attitude was exciting and i focused more… Read more »
I liked the V show. I didn’t watch it in the 80’s but enjoyed this one. It really kept me captivated. Sorry we won’t be seeing it any longer. There were a lot of unresolved issues/story lines. would Like to see maybe a 2 hr finale or something to tie things together.
Cannot believe another good show has been canceled. Just like Detroit 187 and Chicago Code. They were great shows. But….TV keeps the stupid ones, How I Met Your Mother. Please! And The Big Bang Theory. Come on. Those are jokes. Those aren’t actors, just a bunch of losers. Dancing with the Stars are now reaching for anyone with a heartbeat to teach how to dance. Again, dumb show. It used to be good, but I am not watching anymore.
A very sad viewer who does not watch ABC anymore.
That sucks I was looking forward to season 3! Bring it back!!!
i was looking foward to see the next season!
Yeah, this show had really good writing and I was looking forward to the next season. If I remember right abc would mess around with the scheduling, skipping weeks and such. Well if calling them names will help bring the show back, then they are the dumbest of dumbfucks, and if calling them names won’t help, at least I feel better for calling them ******** for leaving us all hanging. Maybe sic fi channel could pick it up after showing the reruns. I’m sure the show would be awesome, are you kidding me? And three awesomely beautiful women! Wow abc… Read more »
I was saddenned that it was cancelled because I really loved the new series. I’m hoping that they will bring it back on the SCI-FI channel so that they can continue with the cliffhangers from season 2. Wishful thinking, but I hope it comes true.
I basiclly feel the same way about them messing with the scheduling. They did the same thing with Lost, then came up with a stupid ending just to bring it to a close. They should know exactly how the show is going to be to the end before they ever put it on the air. For Pete’s sake, they need to stop doing this to me. There are very few shows I really look forward to. I work hard darn it, I want steady viewing I can look forward to when its time to relax!
What is ABC thinking!!!!! I wonder if they looked at the poll on this website. It was a terrific series. Hope the producers look to syfy cable channel to pick up the series–It would be nice to see Jericho be picked up by Cable as well since it seems like network tv isn’t interested in what the viewers want.
