Sadly, the Visitors aren’t among us any longer. After two short seasons, ABC has cancelled their V TV series.
A reimagining of the original V, this series tells the tale of what happens when an advanced alien race arrives of Earth professing their desire to help mankind. Fortunately, not everyone trusts them. The second season features the talents of Charles Mesure, Elizabeth Mitchell as Erica Evans, Joel Gretsch, Laura Vandervoort, Logan Huffman, Morena Baccarin, Morris Chestnut, and Scott Wolf.
For season one, V ended up averaging a 2.25 rating in the coveted 18-49 demographic and 5.7 million average viewers. It was “on the bubble” but ended up being renewed for a 13 episode second season. The network was hoping that the show would catch on and the ratings would improve.

ABC later reduced the episode order to just 10 installments and debuted them mid-season. Unfortunately, ABC’s gamble didn’t pay off. Season two of V ended up averaging only a 1.9 in the demo and 5.49 million viewers.
Though the network and producers maintained that the show was still in contention for next season, it was clear that there would only be a third season of V if ABC was willing to gamble once again. In the end, they weren’t.
ABC confirmed today that V has been cancelled after two seasons and 22 episodes. The series finale aired on March 15th and, unfortunately, there were lots of unresolved cliffhangers. Hopefully the producers will someday share what they had in mind for season three.
What do you think? Are you sad that V won’t be returning next season? Why do you think the series didn’t catch on?

Looking for the new season of V, and finally see it’s canceled. What a disappointment. This series (unlike the original) was done quite well with good effects and characters. Even bringing back Diana was a great tie to the original without being too corny. So ABC follows in the footsteps of Fox and Firefly, where a well done SciFi series bites the dust due to network executives who only look at the bottom line of ratings and haven’t got a clue. Perhaps you can sell the rights to another network who sees the series for what it is. It happened… Read more »
Hey, I liked those star gate episodes as well, hopefully a network sees the potential for V and takes on the show. Great suggestion
I’ve been wondering when V’s new season would be starting. Found the answer: it CANCELLED!!!! I’m starting to wonder how these determinations are made. It has to be purely the bottom line – with no concern for what viewers want & like. Maybe a change is rating systems is in order? Yes, it took me a while to ‘get into’ V – but I did … and was anxiously awaiting the third season to clarify what the hell happened at the end of the 2nd! Too many cliffhangers! And now it’s cancelled … like Eli Stone, Flash Forward, Life on… Read more »
Now I’m really dissapointed, the show was never advertised well & we looked forward to it weekly, ugh
ABC you ruined my day!!!! My husband and I have been waiting and waiting for V!!! That was ONE show we watched together!!! You left us hanging…you jerks!!!!!
AMEN, I COULDN’T HAVE SAID IT BETTER!
Boycott ABC.
They cannot be trusted.
Bring back Flash Forward and V.
The answer to your question about why I think that V did not catch on is simple. I am a SciFi Fanatic and V got way too convoluted, switching back and forth on itself. Generally, in my view, people get a little frustrated with those types of plots. I began to get quite bored with it toward the end.
ha, i think abc sucks too. they cancell all the good tv shows. i didn’t like v that well, but would like to see the end of the series. us baby boomers love watching all my children and grow up watching it, and they cancell that and replace it with a food show. that i don’t care to watch and will not watch.
I’m very sorry V was cancelled. It was a very good program (great imagination). I looked forward to watching it each week. 95% of the people that were asked if V should have been cancelled checked off “No, are you kidding.”
once again I feel riped-off by the powers to be in the televison inds. I cant even count the number of shows I’ve invested my time in just to be left wondreing what the hell? Deadwood, V, The Cape, The 4400 & Happy Town just to name a small few. I don’t mind that the shows end but the way they end, no ending. Quit it !!!!!
Was really looking forward to season 3. Loved the original series, have it on DVD. It wasn’t advertised well. It didn’t move fast enough. The old series had a lot more action. Although it was still better than any of the reality junk on the air. So sick of it.
Yeah their idiots just like cancelling Flash Forward. These were great non reality shows that tookus away from our everyday issues!!
I agree!!!!!
I “V” SHOULDN’T be cancelled because of the
viewers they should keep on going until they get more viewers because
that’s how everyone’s show starts out they just need to how to build on
top of it somebody should a new gambler or something and plus the show was getting good.
That’s messed up! I WISH they will put the show back on!!!!!!!1
I think they needed to try a different day and time, like friday night, maybe thursday. This show did not had good advertising, i run in to the ad by chance. (a scify show should be advertised in the scify channel, even if it plays in another channel). Hope that some other channel/company picks it up and we can continue to enjoy this show. I saw the original version and was happy to follow the new one.
I agree they need a new channel company to help them with their advertisments!
They had to many similarities to the Obama administration trying to take over the world, and Obama had it cancelled.
The Powers that be @ ABC/Disney are really starting to piss me off! THe show was OBVIOUSLY A GREAT ONE & Leaving us Hanging with Marc Singer @ the end like that is a total let down, Seriously being that SyFy has some kind of connection to NBC I don’t know if they would pick it up BUT they would be absolutely stupid if they did not, THis is just as upsetting as As The World Turns Being Cancelled & MUCK SOONIVES for that!
Who ever the person is or team that picks the shows for abc needs to be fired. What are you doing to the network? Istarted getting a bit of respect for abc, but as fast as you cancelled V I lost it. You could of given the show a ending before walking away. I guess the lesson I learned is not to get involved with any tv show on abc.
