Sadly, the Visitors aren’t among us any longer. After two short seasons, ABC has cancelled their V TV series.
A reimagining of the original V, this series tells the tale of what happens when an advanced alien race arrives of Earth professing their desire to help mankind. Fortunately, not everyone trusts them. The second season features the talents of Charles Mesure, Elizabeth Mitchell as Erica Evans, Joel Gretsch, Laura Vandervoort, Logan Huffman, Morena Baccarin, Morris Chestnut, and Scott Wolf.
For season one, V ended up averaging a 2.25 rating in the coveted 18-49 demographic and 5.7 million average viewers. It was “on the bubble” but ended up being renewed for a 13 episode second season. The network was hoping that the show would catch on and the ratings would improve.

ABC later reduced the episode order to just 10 installments and debuted them mid-season. Unfortunately, ABC’s gamble didn’t pay off. Season two of V ended up averaging only a 1.9 in the demo and 5.49 million viewers.
Though the network and producers maintained that the show was still in contention for next season, it was clear that there would only be a third season of V if ABC was willing to gamble once again. In the end, they weren’t.
ABC confirmed today that V has been cancelled after two seasons and 22 episodes. The series finale aired on March 15th and, unfortunately, there were lots of unresolved cliffhangers. Hopefully the producers will someday share what they had in mind for season three.
What do you think? Are you sad that V won’t be returning next season? Why do you think the series didn’t catch on?

SOMEONE BRING V BACK !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
abc why did you cancell V series we loved it please return it on we want it not some of the other shows ! really !! come on now !! there are a lot of people who like it !!
Oh no! I loved this show, I even called in sick to work one night so I would miss it! Pleeeaasse! ABC, reconsider canceling.
I am really upset they cancelled the show. My husband and I enjoyed it. There is nothing worth watching this season on ABC. Every thing they have now is boring!
I commented to my husband a couple of days ago that since we got cable we rarely watch network tv. But, there were a few shows I made sure to never miss. Like LOST & Heroes & V…every time a good show shows up on network tv it gets dropped. I am so sick of sit-cons & police shows. And reality – gag. Network tv execs are all old men who have no idea what people really want to watch. If I didn’t have cable I wouldn’t watch tv at all.
I am sooo bummed this show was cancelled! There were so many cliffhangers…this sucks. I don’t get to watch a lot of T.V. but this was definitely one show I didn’t miss.
I’m really sad that V won’t be coming back this year. Was really looking forward to the sequels It was nice to see Marc Singer and Jane Bader again. Let’s hope the producers can swing this show back on the road again. Appreciate the opportunity getting the message to the producers.
I so looked forward to a reimaging of V. Finally there would be a show I could get into. I am so sick of reality TV. After saying this I regret to have to say that I think the reason the show did not catch on was that it was very slow moving. I am a V fan from way back and I wait 2 seasons for action that never came. I tuned in because I was a V fan not because I just couldn’t wait for the next episode. In short I blame the writers.
I wanted to see when “V” was due to start again and to my dismay I read ABC canceled the series – that’s so sad. I think the show was wonderful and definitely had a lot of potential. I hope ABC will re-consider and renew the series. Goodness knows most of us are getting sick and tired of the singing/dancing reality shows… enough is enough …give us something good to watch!!
i personally think there is too much truth to this tv series. yeah, its about aliens invading…..but dont some of you feel like that has already happened? LOOK at this world we live in today. I dont even recognize it anymore. definately an alien influence somewhere high up in the chain of command.
watch the movie “They Live” with roddy piper… i bet its more real that we know
I’ve only just found V and have watched Season 1 and at present waiting for Season 2 to be delivered from Amazon. I was really looking forward to watching Season 2 but now, after learning the show has been cancelled I am very disappointed. Why is it that shows like this, compelling and addictive, get axed when rubbish like Friends, Frazer at the like go on for years and years – doesn’t make sense to me. I’m very unhappy!!!!!
There are simply TOO many TV shows on TOO many different TV channels. Having more choices is no longer better. And relying on ratings to determine the success of a TV show simply isn’t realistic anymore. There have been dozens of successful TV shows with good ratings that have come and gone that most people have never even heard of. Constantly creating new shows and only letting them run a year or two isn’t very good business practice. Fewer shows with better planning and writing and letting them run a few years would be much more cost effective. We also… Read more »
We watched the first V years ago and was very excited when the new one came on. I’m not a big SCIFI fan, but I did LOVE THIS SHOW! I don’t think they could have found a better actor than Elizabeth Mitchell for the part. SHAME ON YOU FOR LEAVING EVERYBODY HANGING!!!
This show had been a favorite of mine since it began. I was looking forward to season three and anticipating the season premier. Very disappointed that this show was canceled. There are less and less shows which differentiate from the cop/hospital drama. I thought that finally a show which could appeal to the science fiction fan that was not too over the top. Season two had a great finale, unfortunate that the fans won’t know the turn out.
