Sadly, the Visitors aren’t among us any longer. After two short seasons, ABC has cancelled their V TV series.
A reimagining of the original V, this series tells the tale of what happens when an advanced alien race arrives of Earth professing their desire to help mankind. Fortunately, not everyone trusts them. The second season features the talents of Charles Mesure, Elizabeth Mitchell as Erica Evans, Joel Gretsch, Laura Vandervoort, Logan Huffman, Morena Baccarin, Morris Chestnut, and Scott Wolf.
For season one, V ended up averaging a 2.25 rating in the coveted 18-49 demographic and 5.7 million average viewers. It was “on the bubble” but ended up being renewed for a 13 episode second season. The network was hoping that the show would catch on and the ratings would improve.

ABC later reduced the episode order to just 10 installments and debuted them mid-season. Unfortunately, ABC’s gamble didn’t pay off. Season two of V ended up averaging only a 1.9 in the demo and 5.49 million viewers.
Though the network and producers maintained that the show was still in contention for next season, it was clear that there would only be a third season of V if ABC was willing to gamble once again. In the end, they weren’t.
ABC confirmed today that V has been cancelled after two seasons and 22 episodes. The series finale aired on March 15th and, unfortunately, there were lots of unresolved cliffhangers. Hopefully the producers will someday share what they had in mind for season three.
What do you think? Are you sad that V won’t be returning next season? Why do you think the series didn’t catch on?

This announcement dogs me off…. Over the last month I’ve been looking for my old favourites and when they will return. I swear i’m cursing shows – so far: Flash Forward – A great show, well made, good plot, suspense, twists – I watched 22 episodes = CANCELLED The Event – Same as above…. watched 20+ eps = CANCELLED V – Same as above!! 2 seasons watched = CANCELLED Do the math here and I’ve lost over a day of my life for the sake of nothing! I’m English but knowing the USA law system I think someone bonkers should… Read more »
those are the same 2 shows that I just found out have been cancelled and totally agree with you…
I loved the “V” series and am really unhappy to see ABC cancel it at the end of Season 2, with so much potential to take the story further. I am sure I am not the only fan angry at ABC who feels they have no voice or influence with network programming. Some of the other idiot programming that remains in place makes me wonder if many viewers are nuts, or is it the network decision makers?
This show was just as good as The Walking Dead, it was entertaining. All the new shows aired these days are always about sex, violence, drugs and alcohol. No wonder our youth is so confused on whats right and wrong anymore and why so many kids are having kids themselves. There is nothing wrong with keeping some things old fashioned because they beat out anything made these days in time and I am only 29 years old.
YES IM SAD, and to be Literal im pissed, i loved the show and was looking forward to the 3rd Season, PLEEEEEEEEEEEASE GIVE IT ANOTHER TRY, OR AIR IT ON A DIFFERENT NETWORK….!
I can’t believe that they canceled the show….I’ve been anxiously awaiting the new season after the way they left it…with all the shows ABC is losing and cancelling, when are we gonna cancel ABC because obviously they only care about ratings not the loyal fans who are still watching their shows
I was really looking forward to the 3rd season. I just decided to look and see why it has not aired yet, and I figured that the network was just waiting for the holiday season to pass. Then I saw that the network was cancelling it, and I was so confused. I thought they were trying to get some rating not lose what little they had. For the most part I am extremely upset that I have gotten so involved in the series to find out there will not be a CONCLUSION.
I am very disappointed that it won’t be coming back was really looking forward to the v’s losing the battle. I really hope more prestige people comment and try to bring the show back.
.
Could of at least brought it to a conclusion
I just found it the series was cancelled! I can’t believe it!! I am so disappointed. I was looking forward to watching another year. Loved loved “V”, again, such a disappointment.
I can’t stand that V got cancelled. I was looking forward to another season. I will no longer watch programs on the ABC network. I hate you ABC! All you guys want to put on anymore are stupid reality shows!!! Boo on you ABC! ABC now only has crappy shows not worth watching!!! Now the CW network, that’s a network that has good shows!!! Vampire Diaries, Supernatural, I do miss Smallville though. CW is about good shows, ABC is all about cheap to produce crappy reality crap shows!!!
This behavior toward great sci-fi dramas has always been commonplace among the networks. The original Star Trek was cancelled early in the 1960’s. The SyFy (was SciFi) Channel has a long history of canceling GREAT space dramas before their time and replacing them with really crappy reality shows, even wrestling. Few networks will even touch really good sci-fi anymore because a) it’s expensive to make and b) because of (a) it has to do extremely well in ratings of they don’t think they can justify keeping it.
I am extremely disappointed “V” is canceled!!! Too many great plots unresolved! Sux.
Seems that the shows that they want to air are the “reality” shows. Nice to see the change with Sci Fi and something other than degrading morals such as Jersery Shore to florish to the youth of today. Jerico was another that was canceled for “ratings”. That was because it was so true to life and could actually happen. Media controlled is what we are becoming.. Amazing . Bring back or develop showes that will not corrupt the young people of today!
I want it back and let the v lose a battel for once…
This is the best show ABC came up with and they had to cancel it. This is the only show that I watched on ABC. Maybe the ratings would have been better, if it was on a different day and time. Well I have no reason to watch ABC anymore.
