Sadly, the Visitors aren’t among us any longer. After two short seasons, ABC has cancelled their V TV series.
A reimagining of the original V, this series tells the tale of what happens when an advanced alien race arrives of Earth professing their desire to help mankind. Fortunately, not everyone trusts them. The second season features the talents of Charles Mesure, Elizabeth Mitchell as Erica Evans, Joel Gretsch, Laura Vandervoort, Logan Huffman, Morena Baccarin, Morris Chestnut, and Scott Wolf.
For season one, V ended up averaging a 2.25 rating in the coveted 18-49 demographic and 5.7 million average viewers. It was “on the bubble” but ended up being renewed for a 13 episode second season. The network was hoping that the show would catch on and the ratings would improve.

ABC later reduced the episode order to just 10 installments and debuted them mid-season. Unfortunately, ABC’s gamble didn’t pay off. Season two of V ended up averaging only a 1.9 in the demo and 5.49 million viewers.
Though the network and producers maintained that the show was still in contention for next season, it was clear that there would only be a third season of V if ABC was willing to gamble once again. In the end, they weren’t.
ABC confirmed today that V has been cancelled after two seasons and 22 episodes. The series finale aired on March 15th and, unfortunately, there were lots of unresolved cliffhangers. Hopefully the producers will someday share what they had in mind for season three.
What do you think? Are you sad that V won’t be returning next season? Why do you think the series didn’t catch on?

Just finished up watching V season two and i am mad no season three?
They left a lot of cliffhangers it was a good show they need to bring it back!
The actors on that show were great!
This is a shame that ABC cut the show. It makes you want to stop looking at their network all together. Everyone should band the network for a week or so and watch them loose ratings plus money . When someone gets interested in something the network cuts it off. They suck
I think V would have done better if ABC hadn’t gotten weird about accessing the show through the cable streaming services like Cox On Demand. I stopped watching it because I got frustrated that if I missed an episode because of a full DVR or power outage there was nowhere to catch up. I heard it was because they wanted to make money off DVDs later. I know I’d have kept watching if there were ways to keep up with it after missed episodes. I was bummed when I gave up on it. I loved the show!
I am angery that they cancelled the show it was just getting good.
I was a fan of the original and loved it as well.
it’s to bad they did not stick with it a little longer but speed up the story line to keep more people from losing interest this show had a lot more potential than they relize.
oh well may be the sy fi channel will will see the true potential that abc did not.
I cant believe that ABC cancels a good show like V and keeps stupid 1/2 hour shows for all the yuppies to watch. why cant they keep an adult show on for a change. we are not all between the ages of 15 and 30. its about time the older generation has something to watch. after all how much TV does the average younger generation watch?
What a shame, I enjoyed the original series and enjoyed more the new series, it
was more up to date and the characters were very believable, give it a chance, like most things it takes a little while to kick in but this was good.
A word of thanks to the actors themselves, you were all good and made your characters
believable.
I think that so many reality tv shows conquer, dominate, the airwaves that other good shows are not given a fair shake. What people enjoy doesn’t matter when networks rely solely on Nielson ratings. V was a hit in the 80’s. I believe if they put more effort into trying to promote or market this show with a little more enthusiasm like, let’s say, “Desperate Housewives”, it would still be on the air. Marena Baccarin is reason enough to watch!
It it a shame that this show will no longer be in production. I blame the network for not allowing viewers the opportunity to watch episodes they missed on their computers.
Because of that decision, I was unable to watch any of season 2, and I think it discouraged viewers from watching at all.
With that being said, It was a good show with good actors and good special effects. It probably ended up costing too much to produce.
It amazes me how the good programs like V get canceled while the networks allow sporting events to run long and interrupt the recording of following shows.
I really liked the “V” . Im not sure why it didn’t catch on. It was a great show. Maybe they can sell the show to the SiFi ch. and keep it going.
I’m completely bummed. I’ve been waiting for the return of V and decided to google it to see if there was any info on the return. I loved this show. So original. I hate the fact that I’m left hanging.
NOT HAPPY!!!!! I’ve been waiting and waiting for it’s return. Why is it that all the good shows get canceled!!!!!!!!
Put in a good time slot and it will be fine. Make a couple of tv movies at least. Maybe one per year.
I was telling tons of people about it and they didn’t even know it was on. Wasn’t given a fair chance. Science Fict. does well when promoted correctly.
There goes again ABC in all their “great” wisdom. Perhaps it is their way for them to get their names remembered… Making so stupid mistakes that everyone remembers who were these “illuminated” people. I agree, next time we see ABC that we should not start watching as we know it will never be finished, or buy the series as it is a waste of money without an ending. There goes another opportunity to watch a good series with the family…. Shame on these too highly paid “execs” that do not seem to have a clue. Get down from your ivory… Read more »
