Sadly, the Visitors aren’t among us any longer. After two short seasons, ABC has cancelled their V TV series.
A reimagining of the original V, this series tells the tale of what happens when an advanced alien race arrives of Earth professing their desire to help mankind. Fortunately, not everyone trusts them. The second season features the talents of Charles Mesure, Elizabeth Mitchell as Erica Evans, Joel Gretsch, Laura Vandervoort, Logan Huffman, Morena Baccarin, Morris Chestnut, and Scott Wolf.
For season one, V ended up averaging a 2.25 rating in the coveted 18-49 demographic and 5.7 million average viewers. It was “on the bubble” but ended up being renewed for a 13 episode second season. The network was hoping that the show would catch on and the ratings would improve.

ABC later reduced the episode order to just 10 installments and debuted them mid-season. Unfortunately, ABC’s gamble didn’t pay off. Season two of V ended up averaging only a 1.9 in the demo and 5.49 million viewers.
Though the network and producers maintained that the show was still in contention for next season, it was clear that there would only be a third season of V if ABC was willing to gamble once again. In the end, they weren’t.
ABC confirmed today that V has been cancelled after two seasons and 22 episodes. The series finale aired on March 15th and, unfortunately, there were lots of unresolved cliffhangers. Hopefully the producers will someday share what they had in mind for season three.
What do you think? Are you sad that V won’t be returning next season? Why do you think the series didn’t catch on?

I wish the producers and the directors would reconsider there decision and shoot another season of V, i mean season three. It was really interesting and i would like to see more of it.
First Heros and not this… BS I tell you. Both were really good shows that i enjoyed.
I think the series was really full of both superb acting and special effects. I also believe the episodes portrayed aliens as they really are and really will be in the future. They(THE ALIENS ) are deceptive, malignant and have vicious hidden agendas. I am so sorry that they cancelled this series because I think it really portrayed aliens in a very objective light.
No way! ABC doesn’t respect their viewers! From now on, no more ABC tv in my house!
I am very dissapppointed to find out that this series has been cancelled. This was a very good program. I too, was lookign forward to seeing what was going to happen. Now I am hanging onto many cliffhangers. I cannot believe that the reviews weren’t more positive? Especially in this day and age. Bring the show back ABC!
Thanks
Completely typical of TV stations these days. Anything with real entertainment value with a good storyline is cancelled and we are forced to continually flip past all of the reality shows, Dancing with Bears shows and any cop/lawyer drama they can drain to death. It is totally frustrating that we pay $100+/mo for cable only to get stuck with the drivel they produce. Anytime I become really interested in a show the first thing I tell my husband is, “Well this will not last long…” The last season of “V” did not get the ratings because it was obvious the… Read more »
Taking V off of the air was the Stupidest thing ever! Everytime a show comes on that we all start watching and think “this is an awesome show” You morons take it off!!! It is seriously getting to a point of just not watching the station at all. Why should we bother start watching a new series when you idiots are just going to take it away!!!
I thought V was terrific. It grew on you. It moved quickly, and we were never left with dumb moments; women were strong characters, too! Maybe that’s what is so threatening, still, to execs: strong women. It had a great visuals. The writing was fast and non-idiotic or per usual; it shocked and gave suspense. I know many boomers who liked it.. we watch TV too. Reminds me of Dark Skys and how they cut that off too. ******** a couple million fans (I think there were more…) is not cool, period. We watched ABC… and they hung millions out… Read more »
Please bring the series back to at least conclude the cliffhangers. Another season or two would be greatly appreciated. I remember the slow start “Dallas” had, but look at how that show became one of the most popular. Gilligan’s Island was also cancelled way too soon. With creative writers this show could be a real hit. The cast was a good one already. ABC you need to re-think your decision to cancel. This show could be a real money-maker if you brand it correctly. Science Fiction and advanced technology are so big now.
Hey you guys at ABC need to finish what you started, that not cool that you disregard unfinished bussiness. In fact I feel doubtful you people may not finish the next project you have in mind. Perhaps you will leave us viewers disapointed again, so why bother watching anything from you in the future!!
Please bring this back on. I was sad it ended..!!
I have been waiting for season 3. Just realized it has benn canceled and I am upset about that. V has been a great show and I have been looking forward to watching the show til the last season. This really sucks for us fans. If ABC doesn’t want to air the show, take it to another network. Advertise bigger this time to get more viewers.
I’m really upset about this. My mom and I were just talking today about V and how we can’t wait for it to come back on. This show was soo good and made you want more of it each week. I started watching it after coming off of abc’s Lost. Lost was amazing and I was sad to see it come to an end but I was hoping this would be the next big tv series for me. Everyone in my family watched V. Now I know of at least 50 people who are highly disappointed with this. I sure… Read more »
REALLY……? CANCELLED??????????? WHAT ARE THEY THINKING???? Don’t know who’s making the decisions over there, but this one is monumentally STUPID!!!
Another great series goes kaput.
I liked it. Just found out today it was cancelled. Another good show bites the dust with cliffhangers just like Kings a few years ago. Bah humbug
Gutted here in the UK it wasn’t very well advertised which was a shame. Great 2 seasons of the show maybe they might change there mind and make season 3 !!!
