— Finale premieres Monday, August 29 at 10/9c–
(Silver Spring, Md.) – Investigation Discovery (ID) will premiere the sixth and final installment of the network’s record-breaking series, THE VANISHING WOMEN on Monday, August 29 at 10/9c. The one-hour finale features new, case-breaking developments in the investigation of six missing and deceased women from small-town Chillicothe, Ohio. The final episode, which was delayed in taping in an effort to cover real-time breaks in the case, showcases the tireless efforts of law enforcement as they track new leads and incoming tips and also covers the criminal trial of Jason McCrary, a local man who was found guilty in a July trial of murdering 38-year-old Timberly Claytor.
In the conclusion of THE VANISHING WOMEN, serial killer fears are reignited as The Missing Women’s Task Force chases down a terrifying new lead in a small West Virginia town. Meanwhile, the community of Chillicothe anxiously awaits answers as Jason McCrary stands trial in mid-July of 2016 for the killing of Claytor. The prosecution’s key witness claims to have seen the murder – but when McCrary takes the stand in his own defense, he claims his innocence and offers a shocking alternate version of that night’s events. It’s up to the jury to determine who is telling the truth.
THE VANISHING WOMEN documents the past and present work of an active criminal investigation into six open cases of missing women in Chillicothe, Ohio. According to the Chillicothe Police Department, the series has generated dozens of new tips from all across the country since its premiere. With similarities between each of the women and having run in the same circles, some members of the local community fear a serial killer is on the loose. Information on each of the women can be found here, and anyone with information is asked to call the task force hotline at 740-774-FIND (3463) or findme@RossSheriff.com.

What do you think? Did you watch the first season of The Vanishing Women TV series on ID? Do you think it should have been cancelled or renewed for season two?
I found the episodes I have so far watched lacking in cohesion – there is no narration and nothing to hold it together. Following on from the excellent The Killing Season I thought Chillicothe’s vanishing women could be easily part of this series and they might have done a better job of covering the investigation.
I don’t think ot should have been canceled. We were just left hanging and those girls need justice just like everyone else and we want to know what happens and how this unfolds and how dare you guys cut the show ..what are you afraid of? It was real as real gets maybe that’s what you was afraid of ..maybe someone or the truth getting out. That there is a serial killer abroad.
Yes! Renew the series!
I think it should be renewed. I hate to be left hanging. I am really wanted to see the cases solved. The show is intriging . It is a real who done it.
I think they should keep going with the series! What else has happened in the investigation with the other women? The family needs closure!
I think the show needs to finish what it started. I would love to see what the show has come up with, and I think it can help the families get closure.
I have family in Chillicothe , I live abt 2 hours away from there. I really want these cases solved. There’s been murders in my hometown, Springfield , that seem eerily similar. I think ID dropped the ball by cancelling the show.
I’m sorry ID canceled the Vanishing Women series. Each segment proved riveting with discussion of each victim’s situation and how they ended up where they did. Please bring the series back.
Actually they made the show about McCrary and Claytor. .. she was never a missing woman and there is no serial killer
Then who do you think killed the other women?
I can’t believe this show was cancelled?! I thought this was a very good documentary style show that showed what’s really going on even in small towns. Those poor women deserve justice! I’m sure there are plenty of other cases out there that are similar that could use the publicity to bring forth information. Please ID bring it back!
I watched the show, and feel that the murderer of the other women is still out there. I’m sorry that ID has canceled the show!! I’m sure that there are many other stories of women missing.
I would be freaked out living in that town!
I wasn’t too thrilled with the series anyway.
Finally a good non-campy show on ID that was produced and edited well without the cheesy naration —and they cancelled it?!? What a major bummer. This had echos of Making a Murderer without having to get Netflix! and its a shame it doesnt more than a 6 espisode chance. Please Discovery–help your ID network to be competitive!
This is why I have stopped watching most of the new tv shows……as soon as you get interested, they cancel it.
Very good show. Please keep it going.
I totally think it should be renewed, with updates on the ongoing investigations of the deaths of these women.
F-that. I want season 2. C’mon, ID, don’t be a jerk.
