Move over, Empire. Deadline reports The X-Files and FOX’s new series 9-1-1 will take over Wednesday nights this winter.
Currently, Empire and Star share the Wednesday-night timeslot on FOX, but the two shows will be on hiatus when both The X-Files and 9-1-1 premiere in January.
From Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk, 9-1-1 “explores the high-pressure experiences of police, paramedics and firefighters who are thrust into the most frightening, shocking and heart-stopping situations.” The cast includes Connie Britton, Angela Bassett, Peter Krause, Aisha Hinds, Kenneth Choi, and Rockmond Dunbar.
9-1-1 debuts on FOX on January 3rd at 9 p.m. ET/PT, following the season 11 premiere of The X-Files at 8 p.m. ET/PT.

What do you think? Are you a fan of The X-Files? Will you watch 9-1-1?
So they are replacing top rated shows with untested shows. Meaning the top rated shows are going to lose viewers and when the untested shows bombed and some will they will be cancelled and replaced with the former top rated shows which have lost viewers since they were replaced with the untested shows making them cancelled because of low viewers. Way to implode your schedule fox.
Can’t wait to see what direction the X-Files will take after last season’s cliffhanger! Will there be a passing of the torch to younger versions of Scully and Mulder? Will any past villains or creatures come back to haunt them? What form will the alien subplot morph into now? Will Scully fulfill Mulder’s prophecy (about becoming the FBI Director) from the original series? Yep, lots to anticipate. I hope the writing measures up.
