Compared to last year’s Law & Order: SVU’s season premiere in the same timeslot, the network was down by 21% in the demo (vs a 2.4 rating) and down by 16% in viewership (vs 7.63 million). This certainly wasn’t a great start for a new series. On the positive side, almost everyone who started watching the pilot episode stuck with it until the end. That’s kinda rare these days, particularly for a 10pm show. Next week’s numbers should be very telling.

Note: These ratings are collected by the Nielsen company and are the final national numbers. These are different from the fast affiliate numbers which are just estimates of the actual ratings and are reported on by most other outlets. The final nationals are typically released within 24 hours of the programming or, in the case of weekends and holidays, a couple days later.

What do you think? Do you like the Chicago Fire TV series? Do you think it should be cancelled or renewed for a second season?

Chicago Fire is an excellent show that shows the true talent of how firefighters work. The cast is excellent and the show should not be cancelled.

Yes! I have stayed up ever Wednesday night for the months that this show went on to see it. I wasn’t able to go to sleep after for about 2 hours every night because my heart was beating so fast and adrenaline was rushing through my veins. It is fantastic, not all about the drama with epic fire scenes stealing the show. I started watching it because of Jesse Spencer, he was in a former T.V. show I watched that recently ended. I wasn’t disappointed.

Love the show. Good mix of action, suspense, drama and just enough romance to keep my wife interested and not bore me. I haven’t missed a show yet.
