Gene Simmons Family Jewels: Cancelled; No Season Eight

canceled Gene Simmons Family JewelsA&E has decided to cancel their long-running reality series Gene Simmons Family Jewels. The TV show started in 2006 and ran for seven seasons and 166 episodes.

In a statement to THR, the cable channel noted, “For seven great seasons, Gene, Shannon, Nick and Sophie have been part of the A&E family, and we could not be more proud of the unparalleled run of Gene Simmons Family Jewels… On behalf of everyone at A&E, we’d like to thank the production team at Thinkfactory Media, Gene and his amazing family for their partnership, collaboration and for opening up their lives, warts-and-all, to us throughout the years.”

Thinkfactory’s Leslie Greif said, “After having produced over 160 episodes of Gene Simmons Family Jewels, all of us at Thinkfactory Media are honored to have spent the last eight years with the Simmons-Tweed family. It’s rare that a show is able to connect with America, and we are proud to have partnered with A&E on this iconic family journey.”

A statement from the Simmons clan added, “With Kiss on tour and with my other business commitments, we have decided to draw the final curtain on our show. It has been a wonderful, life-altering experience for our family, and after seven successful seasons, we feel it’s time to move on. A big thank you to A&E for allowing us to tell our story and a big thank you to our excellent producers Leslie Greif, Adam Freeman, Adam Reed and the team at Thinkfactory Media. This is not the end of our story, it’s the beginning of a new chapter. With love — Gene, Shannon, Sophie, and Nick.”

The most recent season of Family Jewels, which finished in early July, averaged about a million viewers. That’s a steep decline when compared to the three million viewers that tuned in for the season six finale.

What do you think? Are you going to miss Gene Simmons Family Jewels? Would you like to see it return for an eighth season someday or was it time for the show to be cancelled?

“It is rare that a show is able to connect with America.” When this show had a few million watching the end of season 6, I don’t consider that connecting with America. Three of these family members could walk down 99% of the streets in America without a single person recognizing them.

Well I am heartbroken :( I love this show and like stated above was getting very interesting now hat there is a shrink involved. Maybe they could have a special from time to time so we know how and what they are up to :)

I knew as soon as they got married, that would kill it. It sucks too, because I was just getting interested in the shrink helping them, especially Nick–not turning into a Gene, Jr.

Hope the Simmons family come back with a ”new show”. I will miss watching them.
They were entertaining and true to themselves. Luv them. They will be missed.
