Missing: ABC Series Cancelled; No Season Two

Missing on ABC canceled, no season 2Becca Winstone’s chase is over. ABC has cancelled Missing, their Thursday night TV series, after one season and 10 episodes.

Starring Ashley Judd, Missing follows a former CIA Agent turned single mom as she searches for her missing son in Europe. The action show also stars Adriano Giannini, Nick Eversman, Cliff Curtis, Tereza Voriskova, and Sean Bean.

Missing got off to a disappointing start on March 15th, registering a 2.1 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 10.60 million viewers. It was in third place for the demo and second place in total viewership.

In week two, the numbers took a significant drop, to a 1.6 rating with 8.81 million. Over the next several weeks, Missing fell lower and lower. The most recent episode hit a new low with a 1.1 demo rating and 6.37 million total viewers.

How long should Missing have run?

Overall, Missing’s been averaging a 1.5 rating with 7.70 million viewers. If they had more episodes in the season, those averages would surely keep sinking lower.

On our ABC Ratings Report Card, which measures the relative demo success of TV shows on the network, Missing has a “D-” for a grade. Of the 22 scripted shows on the network this season, Missing ranks 21st — just above the already-cancelled Charlie’s Angels remake.

With low ratings and steep declines, it’s no wonder that ABC decided not to renew Missing for a second season.

The series finale airs next Thursday and will hopefully include enough closure to satisfy the viewers that stuck with it.

What do you think? Are you sorry to hear that Missing has been cancelled? Why do you think the show didn’t succeed? How long should have the show realistically lasted — one season, two, three or more?

I’m really disappointed that the show canceled. This show had a great story line and the actors and actresses are awesome. Sometimes it’s hard to find shows that my husband and I agree on, yes he liked this show too. After waiting for this show to come back on I found out it was canceled. Please bring the show back we love it

I really believe If you w I uld by avebput missing on a better night your rating would be better, why don’t you try it as a summer show like 24 came on every year during the beginning and it left us the viewers in suspense til the next following year. Try it as a summer show and watch the views. Be blessed!!! Loriann

I don’t watch much television….I was introduced to a site for my cell phone called TV Portal….I was looking for a show to watch that I could listen to and watch periodically…when I seen missing I remembered it…I thought I did…the missing I seen was that of a girl with visions, although a good show I decided to try it out….I clicked on pilot and didn’t see anything of which I was use to….but got hooked on it…I managed to watch all 10 episodes….but to my surprise that was it…I’m in shock here…I feel like people were hooked to a show then had the rug pulled from under them…what happened to Becca…glad the boy is safe and the girl now has a family but the family is missing a mom and we have no clue what happened to her….a car with a bloody seat to say she’s alive just hurt…where is she…like really…that was cruel to leave us in the dust like that…Ghost Whisperer did the same thing…what’s happening to television when Cosby left he looked at the audience and said good bye there was no guess work involved, today you put em on and yank em just as fast without any consideration for the viewer…I get the ratings were poor but at least one more episode to show where mom is and get her home

I missed the series and am currently watching it in Hulu. It is great! I believe it just did not have enough publicity! I did not ever hear about until I found it on Hulu. Ashley Judd is awesome. Bring it back!

I just bought the Missing dvds and I still can’t believe they canceled the show. They should definitely bring it back and give it another chance. That was the series I had seen since Lost. Ashley Judd is such a likeable actress too. I was very sad to see it go

I was rely disappointed this year and last year. This is my second time to watch missing and i still find it interesting. I do not understand how the viewers dropped because this series keeps you glued to the TV. What ever you do bring it back because its awesome and rely emotional in a good way. :(
