Round Two: What Top TV Show Should Be Cancelled?

Popular TV showsIf your favorite TV show has ever been cancelled, at least in part because everybody else was watching a really popular show on another channel, this is your chance for a little revenge.

In round one, we asked you to select the popular and/or long-running TV show that you would like to see cancelled. Over a thousand of you voted and had to choose from more than 40 shows.

Interestingly, long-running Supernatural didn’t receive a single vote. Despite being on the air for five seasons and being one of the CW network’s most popular shows, viewers hold no ill will against it. Voters feel similarly towards The Big Bang Theory, Brothers & Sisters, Criminal Minds, CSI: NY, The Good Wife, House, How I Met Your Mother, Law & Order, Law & Order: SVU, The Mentalist, NCIS, NCIS: Los Angeles, and Private Practice. They received votes that tally in the single digits.

Round Two: Which show would you love to see cancelled?

  • Heroes (14%)
  • CSI: Miami (8%)
  • The Bachelor/Bachelorette (34%)
  • American Idol (25%)

On the other hand, there were many shows that readers would love to get rid of. The “winners” of round one are American Idol, The Bachelor/Bachelorette, CSI: Miami, Heroes, Survivor, and, surprisingly, CW’s freshman The Vampire Diaries. If you’re a fan of these shows, don’t worry. With the possible exception of Heroes, all are assured of another season.

So, for round two, which of these six TV shows do you think has been on the air long enough and should be cancelled?

At the end of the week, we’ll take the two “winners” and they can duke it out for the title of “Most Hated, Popular Show on Television.”

CSI Miami should not be cancelled. What really should be cancelled is An Idiot Abroad on Science. It is the dumbest show in America!

Anything that even comes close to the supernatural should get the boot! Do you people REALLY believe in vampires, ghost whisperers and all the other lame shows that are so ungodly? Shame on the writers, producers, and so called actors, etc. for even thinking of writing so many movies that DO leave lasting impressions on young minds.

While I’m on a roll, I see absolutely NO reason as to why ANY show besides Survivor, needs to show so much “skin.” On Survivor, well, they’re doing just that, surviving – and in VERY hot weather, so it’s understandable that they have to get down to their skivvies. At least the show blurs out the gross parts on bodies we would cringe to see.

G-Rated movies sell MORE than R – but Hollywood has to appease the masses, they feel like they need to throw in EVERY cuss word out there, and even make up some new ones. If a show uses profanity, shooting, stabbing, etc, because the story is truly about the time period and what was going on, it’s a bit more tolerable. Case in point: Schindler’s List, Band of Brothers, et al. On the flip side, Good Will Hunting holds the records for the most “f” bombs, which was sooo unnecessary, and Crash holds THE most cuss words period!

I watched a PG movie yesterday and G#d D*mn was used 5 times. UNBELIEVABLE!!! Is there NO reverence towards God? Oh, that’s right; Hollywood does not like Christians, especially we evangelicals.

PLEASE get rid of The View! Whoopi and Joy Goldberg are ignorant, arrogant and downright mean. The way they walked off the set when Bill O’Reilly was a guest was disrespectful and childish. I don’t care if Whoopi IS an “EGOT” Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, Tony winning “artist” and I use that word loosely. She wears her man clothes just the same as O’Reilly.

I know this blog is about TV shows, but media is media, either way you splice it!

Let go of “The Bachelor/Bachelorette” and “American Idol” because I’m bored by these types of reality shows. Keep “Vampire Diaries” and “Heroes”.

Chuck should never be cancelled. It is ensemble genius. On the other hand, Vampire Diaries is a waste. I would have loved to see Moonlight back. I’m really tired of Taylor Lautner and all of the other pimply adolescent vamp wanabees. No taste, no interest, no talent.

ok first of all Eastwick was the worst show ever made idk wat tha hell ur talking about i hated tht show i couldn’t even make through a whole eppisode thats how much it sucked ass i didn’t even know it had gotten cut yet (but it was just a matter of time)
that might be the highlight of my year pure crap like tht should never even be on tv and dollhouse wouldn’t even let us c the last eppisode of the season i think that says it all

now if u completely disagree i respect that and would like 2 hear y.

I was sorry to see EASTWICK go, I hope it is reconsidered for at least another round, as it was definately a refreshing change from what has been coming around in newer TV shows.
Another TV show I would like to see come back, which I am understanding the vote is still out on it, is Fox TV’s MENTAL, or to see another Network pick it up !

I was extremely sorry to see both ‘Eastwick’ and ‘Dollhouse’ get cancelled. Both were excellent shows with tremendous potential for a vast variety of story lines. The same goes for ‘Defying Gravity’ which was cancelled abruptly but, fortunately the final five episodes were still acvailable on the internet. Let’s hope that who ever makes decisions about other good shows such as ‘Vampire Diaries’, ‘Chuck’ or ‘Hereos’ doesn’t do anything stupid like they did with ‘Defying Gravity’.

Please do not cancel Vampire Diaries. This show really has potential.
get rid of American Idol, and I used to love One Tree Hill, but it’s been really boring lately. It’s time to let it go. :(
