ABC will make all episodes of new series from the current 2016-17 season and several returning shows available to authenticated viewers on ABC.com and the ABC app for desktop, mobile and connected TV devices, including the following fall series: “American Housewife,” “Conviction,” “Dancing With The Stars,” “Designated Survivor,” “Notorious,” “Quantico,” “The Real O’Neals,” “Secrets and Lies,” and “Speechless,” as well as its mid-season series: “American Crime,” “The Bachelor,” “The Big Fan,” Downward Dog,” “Imaginary Mary,” “Time After Time,” and the mini-series event “When We Rise.” Episodes from most series will also be available on Hulu and via select MVPD On-Demand platforms, including Xfinity and DIRECTV.
“More viewers are watching shows on their own terms, and we want to continue pursuing ways to better meet their expectations. Whether they fall behind on their favorite show or are late in discovering one that is new to them, we want fans to easily find and connect with our content,” said Channing Dungey, president, ABC Entertainment. “With the addition of in-season stacking of current shows, ABC’s digital platforms are now more than ever a true destination for discovering or catching up on many ABC shows, as well as reconnecting with full seasons of beloved Throwbacks.”
ABC.com and the ABC app enable all users nationwide to access the five most recent episodes of their favorite shows for free on-demand, including “Grey’s Anatomy,” “How To Get Away With Murder,” “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.,” “Modern Family” and “Scandal.” Additionally, viewers who authenticate with a participating pay TV provider have several advantages, including the ability to watch a 24-hour live network stream in select markets; access to the most recent episodes of ABC series and news programs the day after they air; and now access to every episode of this season’s new series.
This past summer, ABC re-launched its app, marking a major evolution of its streaming service. In addition to the current on-air shows, the network added full seasons of 38 “Throwback” shows like “Ellen,” “Felicity,” “Sports Night,” and “Ugly Betty,” as well as original and derivative short-form content, and redesigned the user interface to improve discovery and navigation.
The ABC app is available on Apple’s App Store, Apple TV App Store, Amazon Appstore, Amazon Fire TV, Android TV, Chromecast, Google Play, Roku, and Xbox 360.”
What do you think? Do you watch ABC? What’s your favorite new series on the network this fall?
I like the streaming app version very much. It’s easy to use and accessible. I still have cable but enjoy watching several shows through the app while at lunch from work. Hopefully the app plays a part in viewing ratings?
