Four ABC TV shows were up this time around, three remained at the same levels and the rest were down. Most notably, Shark Tank had a big gain and Jamie Oliver’s Food Revolution and Happy Endings had big week-to-week drops.
Which ABC TV series will be renewed or cancelled depends mostly on the show’s ratings, particularly the 18-49 demographic. Before we get to the season-to-date averages, here are the winners and losers from April 15th through April 21st — based on the coveted demo, as measured against the last original episode.
Week-to-Week Gains: Shark Tank 1.5/5 (+25.0%), 20/20 1.7/4 (+13.3%), The Middle 1.9/6 (+5.6%), Better with You 1.6/5 (+6.7%), and Cougar Town 2.3/6 (Weds, +4.5 compared to Mon ep).
No Change: Primetime: What Would You Do? 1.4/4, 20/20 1.5/5, and America’s Funniest Home Videos 1.6/5.
Week-to-Week Losses: Extreme Makeover: Home Edition 2.0/6 (-16.7%), Desperate Housewives 2.7/7 (-6.9%), Brothers & Sisters 1.7/7 (-5.6%), Dancing with the Stars 4.0/11 (Mon, -11.1%), Cougar Town 2.2/6 (-18.5%), Jamie Oliver’s Food Revolution 1.1/3 (-26.7%), Dancing with the Stars 3.0/8 (Tues, -3.2%), Body of Proof 2.4/6 (-4.0%), Modern Family 3.8/10 (-2.6%), Happy Endings 1.8/5 (10pm ep, compared to last Weds, -21.7%), and Happy Endings 1.6/4 (10:30pm ep, compared to 10pm, -11.1%).

Below is a list of the regular ABC TV shows and their 2010-11 season average ratings to date. It only incorporates the ratings for original episodes and not repeats. The data is sorted by the all-important 18-49 demographic averages. The closer a show is to the bottom, the more likely it is to be cancelled. Fridays and Saturdays are the least-watched nights of TV so those shows get lower numbers.
