It wasn’t a great start for the new series but Awake still outperformed the premieres of (essentially-cancelled) The Firm, and (cancelled) The Playboy Club, and Prime Suspect. If the show can stay at this level of ratings, it’s got a very good chance of being renewed for a second season. It’s amazing how poor a show’s ratings can be on NBC and still be one of the best rated shows on the network.
Note: These ratings are collected by the Nielsen company and are the final national numbers. These are different from the fast affiliate numbers which are just estimates of the actual ratings and are reported on by most other outlets. The final nationals are typically released within 24 hours of the programming or, in the case of weekends and holidays, a couple days later.
What do you think? Do you like the Awake TV series? Do you think it should be cancelled or renewed for a second season?
Once again they have cancelled a show worth watching. It just goes to show people that quality no longer matters just quantity. Hopefully the people can voice their opinions and NBC will listen. Or perhaps just stop watching NBC maybe then they’ll listen when all their numbers fail
Best show on tv by far. Keeps you on suspense from beginning to the end. NBC please give us one more season, maybe earlier for those viewers that sleep early and record the show because we have to be up early (work, school, etc). I also hope another network picks up this show if NBC cancels it.
I am very upset to hear that Awake was canceled. I am frustrated by how a show of such caliber is cut so quickly when mindless shows like Jersey Shore remain. I hope NBC comes to its senses.
I signed the petition to keep the show, but have seen reports of Awake already being cancelled. Is there anything else we can do??
I loved it and would be upset if it doesn’t return
My favorite show, very interesting and I would love to see the second season. When I read that the series might be canceled I didn’t believe it, I thought ‘How could such a good series be canceled?’ The show has a great story-line, great acting, and great depth.
One of the few series programs that I watched this season. Main character is an excellent actor–good scripts, interesting premise. Why are you cancelling it? But be that as it may, thank you for a quality season!
I would love another season for a Season 2, but after watching the season 1 finale, I’m not sure how they would do it, unless they’re going to make it to where they have both alive in both realities and he can solve cases. The direction could be is “How they deal with the Rex baby” in one reality and one where she had lost it and see “How everyone” deals with it. It would be interesting, I don’t know, but it doesn’t get renewed than I’m happy with the ending as see this as more of a mini-series; than… Read more »
Every time I like a TV Series it seems to be cancelled. Does that mean I don’t have good taste? Who know? I was very disappointed that Awake was cancelled even after seeing the Series Finale. Series I have enjoyed that went by the way side: Missing (both series); Tru Calling; New Amsterdam; Life (although it was able to come to a conclusion); Terra Nova; V; Life on Mars; Flash Forward (horrible way they had to hurry and finish it); Journeyman; Firefly; and many, many others. There are too many talent contests (could we stick with a few?) and too… Read more »
Please, please renew this show – it’s one of the best shows on tv and the only one that really makes you pay attention. There’s so much terrible tv, I can’t believe NBC won’t give Awake another season
Another show gets the axe because it is too smart for majority of the viewing public here in the USA. People prefer headslaps to having to use your head when watching TV.
I have a small hope that some other network, like say TNT , TBS, FX , etc. will pick this show up , it was easily the best new drama of the season on network TV.
Love this show makes us use our brains! On that’s right tv should be mindless reality shows! Here’s s chance for another network to pick up a very goof show!
There are few shows I ever watch, but this one, has been worth watching. I work so much so that nothing is worth watching unless it’s with and for the kids or hubby. THIS SHOW WAS FOR ME. It’s been a captivating and addicting show with endless unknowns. It caused my heart to palpitate on so many occasions, gripped with so many emotions. I truly connected with Michael’s plight and the need to keep his family alive and together. Incredible, amazing, and ingenious storyline, plots, resolving cases episode to episode yet unfolding truth with a thread that binds it all… Read more »
Best Story line on T V , DO NOT CANCELL
I do not watch much television but Awake was one show I never missed. The writing was phenomenal and the storyline kept me on the edge of my seat week after week. Some nights it kept me awake, no pun intended, as I would re watch the episode in my head trying to figure it all out. This show really made me think and pay attention, as opposed to the other 95% of the shows on television that are just recycled versions of prior shows. The cast was amazing and I am so surprised more people did not find the… Read more »
