Beowulf shall return to the Shieldlands, no more. C21 Media reports ITV has cancelled its Beowulf TV series after the first season. The news that Beowulf would get the axe, first broke in February.
In the US, Beowulf airs on Esquire. A fantasy drama, based on the Old English epic poem, the series stars Kieran Bew in the title role. William Hurt, Joanne Whalley, and Ed Speleers also star.

ITV had high hopes for the £17m (US$23m) adaptation of the epic poem but the programme ultimately failed to achieve high viewing figures.
An ITV spokeswoman told C21 this morning: “ITV regularly refreshes its drama portfolio and consequently Beowulf: Return to the Shieldlands isn’t returning to the channel.”

Its watchathon week and the first show i chose is Beowolf. I’m sad there wont be a season 2. Please please please bring it back. I love the show

i enjoyed this show. I was hoping to see more. I sure hope they are not going to leave it at episode 113 and leave people hanging I hate when they do that its like starting a book then losing it before you finished reading it. Not good.

If another network saves Beowulf from the dead, they should make another 12 episodes or 13 episodes instead.

ITV can’t do that! This show has no right to end on a unresolved cliffhanger. Everybody saw how episode 12 ended. It ended on a cliffhanger for a possible season two. Everybody wants it back. Big mistake, ITV! Big, big mistake! I hope the crew will find a way to revive Beowulf for a second season. It has to be saved by Netflix.
It had to go it wasn’t an awful reality show. These producers think we are all brain-dead morons who will watch anything they stick in front of our faces. Well, I can tell you where to stick your reality shows that are as far from reality as the truth is.
Can’t the crew find another TV channel to pick Beowulf up for a second season and keep it running until season five as planned? Maybe Syfy, Netflix, Xbox Live or Amazon Prime?
