Starz has decided to cancel their Camelot TV series after one season. While the ratings weren’t bad for the Arthurian show, the numbers aren’t necessarily the whole reason why there won’t be a second season.
Camelot, as you might have guessed, is based on the legend of King Arthur. The series stars Jamie Campbell Bower as a young King Arthur, with Joseph Fiennes as Merlin, Eva Green as Morgan, and Tamsin Egerton as Guinevere.
The premiere attracted 1.1 million viewers with a 0.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic. That marked the cable channel’s most-watched and highest-rated original series premiere to date. Unfortunately, the second installment dropped 24% in total viewership and subsequent episodes dropped even further. Still, by the end of the season, the ratings were on an upswing. The finale nearly matching the viewership of the premiere.
While Camelot may have ordinarily ended up getting a renewal from Starz, the ratings weren’t the only factor in play.
A statement from a Starz representative notes, “Due to significant production challenges, Starz has decided not to exercise the option for subsequent seasons of Camelot with our production partners GK-tv, Octagon Films and Take 5 Productions.” Deadline reports that some of those “challenges” included scheduling conflicts with some of the actors.
What do you think? Are you sorry to hear that Camelot has been cancelled? Would you have liked to have seen a second season?

Very disappointed that there will not be a season 2. Truly wanted to see what was going to happen to Morgan. This is a very well made series. Great group of characters. Once again, very disappointed.
Very Bad !!! Camelot is a really good show, I was really looking forward to seeing Season 2.
It is getting to the point where I refuse to watch a new show the first season . It is best to wait until you know it gets picked up for a second season before investing any time in a new show. If the show has a 2nd season then I will watch the 1st season on the internet.
Real shame. The show was not perfect but still was good entertaiment. And it was also the only good thing of starz. Now I’ll drop that channel.
Thank GOD!!! I hated the show with passion. All romance nooo action and the little action there was, was horrible. Id like to see Jamie Campbell Bower swing a reel sword without falling over. Total chick show.
Great Show! I was really looking forward to seeing a Season 2. I guess I won’t watch anymore TV produced shows until I know they have made the commitment to see the story line through. What a disappointment!
Idiots… they could’ve waited for a bit… hiatus maybe… I agree while not riveting, it was compelling and the acting was solid… shame.
such a pain. it’s a nice series and well done, great acting
This show was very captivating. I could not get enough after each epsiode I wanted more. Every time I get interested in something money has to cancel it. I was watching Game OF Thrones At the same time. Both Were top notch.
i watched 4 episodes..each time hoping it will get better, but it got worse. That’s just my 2 cents, i hated it.
Too bad I really liked this show. Just when I thought Starz was starting to become a good cable network.
watched the whole season i dont know why this show was god awful. merlin the bbc sshow slams dunks this. GAME OF THRONES ON HBO IS SUPERIOR TO ALL
My boyfriend & i just finished watching the first season. Disappointed that there isn’t going to be another season. It is a really good show.
Disappointed that the show won’t continue…while it wasn’t riveting it was still good entertainment.
Suck my balls! **** I hate tv producers
