It’s never a good sign when some of the staff of a struggling show take on other jobs. That’s just what’s happened with some of the personnel from FOX’s Human Target and NBC’s The Cape.
According to Deadline, Human Target’s executive producer, Brad Kern, has been hired as the executive producer and showrunner of ABC’s dramatic pilot called Poe. The series follows the adventures of Edgar Allen Poe, a macabre writer and “the world’s first detective,” as he uses unconventional methods to solve dark mysteries in Boston during the 1840s. Kern also previously ran Charmed for The WB.
Meanwhile, The Cape’s showrunner, John Wirth, has been tapped as executive producer and showrunner for The CW’s drama pilot called Cooper & Stone. This project follows two young female detectives from Chicago’s North Side. They’re best friends who discuss fashion and pop-culture while solving homicides. Wirth was previously a co-showrunner on FOX’s Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles.
Neither Human Target nor The Cape have been officially cancelled. However, The Cape’s episode order was recently cut and the show’s ratings continue to fall so its widely considered to be doomed.
Human Target’s future isn’t as clear. The show had a disappointing season, averaging a 1.7 in the 18-49 demographic and 6.4 million viewers. That’s down 24% in the demo when compared to last season’s average. On the positive side, the series’ ratings picked up in the last few weeks and endured several schedule changes so there’s still a small chance that it could return for season three. We’ll know by May.
What do you think? If you had to choose between Human Target and The Cape, which would you chose?
Human Target for sure. The problem is Fox because they move their shows around to much. They should pair Fringe and H.T. on a Friday night and let them grow. Guerrero is one cool character.
To me, HUMAN TARGET has something special – the makings of a great, long-running series, with a great cast, great plots and lots of adventure and action. And – it’s got class. Not to mention – it’s got Mark Valley!!!
HANDS DOWN, HUMAN TARGET! Please keep this show. Ratings were low because NO ONE COULD FIND IT TO WATCH ! ! ! Fox kept changing day and times until one couldn’t even look for it anymore. LOOKING SO FORWARD TO HUMAN TARGET BEING ON AT A REGULAR TIME AND DAY – ANY DAY!
Hey Fox, you have one of the best shows on TV with Human Target. PLEEEEASE don’t cancel it. I have been searching the schedule every week for a month now hoping to see it is on. I started to worry if it had been cancelled so I searched the web for info. I am not in the 18-49 catagory but I spend just as much as they do. Please don’t dismiss our opions.
I hope Human Target returns. My family and I enjoyed the show.
Human Target is our choice.
I watch both shows but if I had to choose one it would be Human Target. That show is fantastic and I don’t miss an episode. It is a great ensemble cast who work well together. It was a difficult one to track as they kept changing the days and dates it would air. It’s a show the whole family watches, something for everyone!!
I think Human Target is one of the best shows on tv. It has action, drama, and humor. The cast is equal to any cast on tv. I have the first season on dvd and am anxiously awaiting season 2. I beleive ratings were down because scheduling was haphazard this season. I had to keep going on line to find when and what time the show would air.
Human Target all the way!
Changing Human Target to an ensemble cast was a brilliant move that took a good show and made it a great one. Fox needs to promote the program more and quit jerking the schedule around. If you can get the 18-49 group to just watch one episode, they will be hooked. I love Human Target.
Human Target for sure.
Its an awesome show, and a week without it is surely an empty one. Our family all long for the next season, so I really hope that the show will receive the thumbs up soon.
Human Target has some fascinating characters I will sorely miss. I enjoy The Cape, but I don’t think I will miss it quite so much. I’m so used to every new show I enjoy getting canceled for lack of interest I try not to hold out hope. If they cancel Fringe, though….
I would choose Human Target. The Cape was interesting to me for the first few shows and then I lost interest with that clowns on the train episode. When it comes to Human Target, season 1 was way better but season 2 was not bad either. Instead of canceling it, why not go back to what season 1 was all about and keep characters of season 2. That combo would be great.
Human Target is an awesome show. One of the best on TV and nothing else like it. Please FOX …..DO NOT CANCEL Human Target. Be fair and give it a chance…no pun intended.
Sorry I can’t choose. I like them both for the same reason. They are both equivalent to graphic novels come to life. Both shows have the same appeal. Not to violent, sexual, or deeply philosophical. Just plain escapist entertainment. Reality be damned.
