It’s an angel’s anniversary. Three angels to be more specific. That’s right. Today marks 35 years since Charlie’s Angels aired its final episode on ABC.
Produced by TV giant Aaron Spelling, the crime drama centered on three female detectives working for a mysterious boss named Charlie. The cast included Kate Jackson, Farrah Fawcett, Jaclyn Smith, David Doyle, and John Forsythe as the voice of Charlie. Cheryl Ladd joined the series in season two, replacing Fawcett.
The series premiered in 1976 and ran for five seasons before ending on June 24th, 1981. Since then, the show has spawned several spin-offs, including a short-lived 2011 series and two feature films starring Drew Barrymore, Lucy Liu, and Cameron Diaz. For the movies, Forsythe reprised his role as the voice of Charlie.
