Ellen DeGeneres is about to celebrate a huge milestone. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the daytime talkshow host will honor the 20th anniversary of Ellen’s coming out episode on The Ellen DeGeneres Show later this month.
The episode, titled “The Puppy Episode,” featured DeGeneres’ character Ellen Morgan coming out as gay. It first aired on April 30th, 1997 and caused a sensation, becoming the ABC sitcom’s highest-rated episode and the winner of several awards including a Peabody.
On April 28th, The Ellen DeGeneres Show will host an hour-long celebration of the episode with a reunion of cast members Oprah Winfrey, Laura Dern, Joely Fisher, Clea Lewis, and David Anthony Higgins.
