The ABC TV show about what happens in the future apparently doesn’t have one. FlashForward has been cancelled after one season.
FlashForward begins as the world’s population blacks out for 137 seconds and they “flash forward” to see visions of their lives six months in the future. The series’ ensemble cast includes Joseph Fiennes, John Cho, Jack Davenport, Zachary Knighton, Peyton List, Dominic Monaghan, Brian F. O’Byrne, Courtney B. Vance, Sonya Walger, and Christine Woods.
The series debuted in September and attracted a 4.0 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 12.47 million viewers. With a lot of buzz, it seemed like ABC had a hit. For week two, the ratings dropped to a still very respectable 3.7 and 10.73 million.
But then viewership just kept falling, hitting a low of a 2.1 in the key demo and just 7.1 million viewers. Then, ABC pulled the series for three months. The spin was that they would relaunch FlashForward after the Olympics.
The network gave the return a significant amount of promotion but it didn’t help. FlashForward’s ratings were even worse and they just kept dropping. They’ve gotten so bad that The CW has been beating them in the demo.
To no surprise, ABC has cancelled FlashForward after one season of 20 episodes. The series finale will air in two weeks, on May 27th.
What do you think? Did FlashForward deserve a second season? Could ABC have saved it? If given the chance, how would you wrap it up?

Flash Forward was a great show with supurb acting. It should definitely receive a second season. It was an extremely interesting concept and a much better show than some that have been given another season. I hope another network picks it up.

I can’t believe Flash Forward was cancelled. My boyfriend and I always watch it. We look forward to it every week. But I really can’t believe you would cancel it in the middle of the story. Most networks at least finish things up. With V, Flash Forward, Ghost Whisperer and Numbers, TV was looking pretty good again. Guess I’ll just watch the SyFy channel.
I’m so bummed that this show got canceled. It was a nice change from the reality shows, we need to bring it back for season 2 so we can have some closure.
Please please please bring season 2…. Please
hmmm, cancel my favorite show in the middle of the story. Its enough to make you want to give up TV and start reading books! This makes me a lot less likely to watch ABC TV in the future because its a waste of my time if they don’t complete the show. I got better things to do.
We want season 2 of FlashForward
Brazil
This is so upsetting. Flashforward was the only show I really got completely hooked on this year. With LOST ending and the cancellation of FF, the fall line up looks extremely bleak. Reality shows are horrible. Give me intelligent tv – shows that require we truly think while we are watching. Otherwise, I’ll be tuning out.
FF had a great finale – the show continues to surprise and delight. Please reconsider this decision. I was planning on this taking my LOST slot. (that is saying a lot for a true LOST fan)
LOVED this show, just was so into LOST finale…I always watched FF though…and V. Who the heck are they asking! I bet SCI FI channel will pick it up like X files, they are the SMART ONES out there! WE WANT FLASH FORWARD AGAIN!!!!!!! NOW!!!!!!!!
Omg please bring Flash Forward back~I usually do not get into TV shows and also I usually do not keep up with them. Every Thursday night I made sure I was home so I’d be able to watch this show. Please let them have a season 2, PLEASE
don’t understand why ratings so pooor?????? giv us season 2
How can ABC do that?? FF is much much better than Lost!!!!! We want season 2, pleeeeease!!!
DAMN IT !!!!!!!! WE WANT SEASON 2
Poor decision to drop FF after only one season.
Like a previous poster stated, the show was huge in the UK and tbh one of the
few TV shows that had, that element of intrigue in every episode.
Think again ABC please !
