The ABC TV show about what happens in the future apparently doesn’t have one. FlashForward has been cancelled after one season.
FlashForward begins as the world’s population blacks out for 137 seconds and they “flash forward” to see visions of their lives six months in the future. The series’ ensemble cast includes Joseph Fiennes, John Cho, Jack Davenport, Zachary Knighton, Peyton List, Dominic Monaghan, Brian F. O’Byrne, Courtney B. Vance, Sonya Walger, and Christine Woods.
The series debuted in September and attracted a 4.0 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 12.47 million viewers. With a lot of buzz, it seemed like ABC had a hit. For week two, the ratings dropped to a still very respectable 3.7 and 10.73 million.
But then viewership just kept falling, hitting a low of a 2.1 in the key demo and just 7.1 million viewers. Then, ABC pulled the series for three months. The spin was that they would relaunch FlashForward after the Olympics.
The network gave the return a significant amount of promotion but it didn’t help. FlashForward’s ratings were even worse and they just kept dropping. They’ve gotten so bad that The CW has been beating them in the demo.
To no surprise, ABC has cancelled FlashForward after one season of 20 episodes. The series finale will air in two weeks, on May 27th.
What do you think? Did FlashForward deserve a second season? Could ABC have saved it? If given the chance, how would you wrap it up?

Actually, I (and apparently too many others) became bored with the soap opera aspects of the main characters’ love lives. The main story line thus became muddled.
I was glued to the screen during the first dozen episodes though.
i think flashforward is one of the best series on tv and definetly deserves a second chance, come on i really love the story line its brilliant.
This show was Wonderful i wish they come back
Flashforward definitely deserved a second season. HOWWW are you going to end the show on that note. It was a fantastic show that was well written and had numerous plot twists and it deserves a second chance and a second season. ABC would be stupid not to put this show back on the air and give it a second season. The actors are amazing, the writing is phenomenal, and you never know where the show is going next. It is the perfect thinker show and should SERIOUSLY be considered for another season. Don’t let this die out. I saw it… Read more »
loved it watched it on netflix. wanted more… Maybe a movie to tie up what happened to everyone but it left it in limbo. 🙁
I loved the show. Never missed one.
Started watching it on tv,1st episode.Get me hooked then, bang no more. What the heck is that?
This cracks me up that all of the latest comments are about people that discovered this show through Netflix. I too recently found this show through Netflix and absolutely enjoyed every minute of it. I wish that ABC would notice that Netflix has brought new life to this show, as it has done to others, and sign up for another season. There are whole new fan-bases out there that have come to know and love this show.
dan i completely agree with you. I also discovered this through Netflix and i think if they brought on a second season it’d be a big money maker for both.
It was a great show I started to see it yesterday on DVD and i finish it today is a shame that they canceled is there lost I guest.
Very sadden… they left us hanging. I absolutlely loved the show.
That really makes me sad that they cancelled it. I happened upon it on Netflix and watched the entire season in a short amount of time. I want to see what happens!!!!! Great show, excellent acting, perfect choice of music….
BRING IT BACK PLEASE!
i liked this show as well. it would have been great to have been a tv mini-series as well!
I kept waiting for Flashforward Season 2 to start but now I find out it was canceled. I loved this show and watched it every week. I also loved The Gates which was also canceled after a short run. Why do you keep cancelling good shows? The finales keep us wanting more and then they are cut off in mid-stride. Bring them back!
I loved this show! I didnt know it existed until I saw it on my reccommended list on Netflix! There should totally be a second season! I hate when good shows leave the fans hanging! Bring back Flashforward Please!!!
I am absolutly glued to this show! I accidentally happend upon it on Netflix and would have really enjoyed season 2. I think if it were a mini series it would produce more revene than a 6 season tv series, but none the less, the writers had something special and I’m enjoying it very much.
