Marti Perkins won’t have to worry about how to pay for another year at Lancer University. Hellcats has been cancelled after one season on The CW.
Based on the book Cheer: Inside the Secret World of College Cheerleaders, Hellcats revolves around a pre-law student (Aly Michalka) who must join her university’s cheerleader team to win a scholarship to stay in school. The show also features Ashley Tisdale, Gail O’Grady, Heather Hemmens, Matt Barr, Robbie Jones, and Sharon Leal.
The started off the season back in early September with a 1.2 rating in the 18-49 demographic, a 2.1 rating in the 18-34 female demo and about three million viewers.

Unfortunately, those numbers started to slide pretty quickly and late last month, Hellcats fell as low as a 0.4 in the 18-49 viewers, a 0.7 in the young female demo and fewer than a million viewers.
While it’s not the lowest-rated series on The CW when you look at the season averages, it’s been in a decline all season and showed no signs of turning around.
As a result, the network has decided to cancel Hellcats. All the 22 episodes of the series have aired with the de facto series finale running last night.

Are you serious, you take a well written show and cancel it. I’m so sure that there are not only Americans in the world. This was one of my favourite and if they gave it time, it could of made it big, like come on. That was the best f***ing show beside 90210, Vampire Diaries, and Gossip Girls. I am so seriously mad. I second this! I loved this show and CW is the absolute worse for canceling such a good show. I absolutely hate when they make a show and end it with a bunch of questions and then say it’s canceled. HORRIBLE SERVICE.
Cancelling Hellcats after leaving such a huge cliffhanger is wrong by any standard. Peopl may not be attracted to the idea to start with because not many people like cheerleaders, but it was the anticipation of what happened next that kept them coming back. They need to either clean up the ends to keep going.
Appealing to a different audience or a different time slot may help.
it was the only CW show I liked. It was just getting to the really good stuff and now their going to leave a cliff hanger…this sucks!!!!!!
i love hellcats!! i don’t think they gave enough time for the overseas viewers, i’m from the UK and i absolutely love it 🙁 gutted there won’t be another season!!
I’m really dissapointed. It was one of my favourite shows and i think the plot and storylines were getting more interesting and now the viewers have been left with no answers. I think another station should pick the show up as the cast are really good and stunts throughout and really entertaining i like that it was light hearted and funny too. the only people who watched hellcats were people who like to jack off to ashley tisdale and aly and aj like me. these women all have big movie careers now so they don’t need that show anymore.
I loved this show so much, its one of the two i actually watched episode to episode sad it’s being cancelled but i did see it comming so unfortunate 🙁
Hellcats was awesome this is a shame. My husband even liked watching this show. Why continue with the episodes and make us want to see more if you are just going to cancel it.

Hellcats was great, I have decided not to bother with cw anymore as lately it has a good show and then cancels to air ongoing shows such as one tree hill, supernatural and 90210.
Life Unexpected was a great show as well.
I really liked this show. I really wish it would come back on. I love the Cheerleading that is in it. I was a cheerleader myself along with my best friend and it made us miss cheering. We looked forward to watching it every Tuesday. Oh this sucks!!!
It should not of been cancelled at all. although it may of had a low fan basis in america(which i’m not sure it did) it has only recently started to screen in the uk and we love it! I am in no way a girly girl who enjoys cheerleading I watch the programme for the brilliant storyline that was written. Hellcats was wonderful – light, yet dramatic at times. Hellcats was the only show worth watching. The cheerleading stunts were really amazing. CW has lost my viewership. Hate Vampire Diaries, Supernatural and Smallville. These show are too dark.
And 90210 has too much emphasis on homosexual relationships – not my cup of tea!
