Yesterday, Hallmark Channel announced that host Cristina Ferrare would be replaced as co-host by regular contributor Debbie Matenopoulos. The cable channel didn’t specify when the change would take place.
Today, co-host Mark Steines made a quick announcement that Ferrare had left the show and that Matenopoulos would be replacing her, effective immediately. Ferrare hadn’t been on the show for two weeks and didn’t return for a send-off.
Fans of the show have been concerned if Ferrare was sick and have been wondering if the decision to leave was her decision. On her Facebook page, Ferrare confirmed that she is not sick and essentially says that she was fired. She wrote:
Okay here goes, I feel it’s important to finally step up to the plate and let you know what is happening.
First may I say that my family and I have been so thankful and appreciative for all the love, support, prayers, and good wishes you have been sending me on a daily basis for the past three weeks. It pained me so that I was unable to let you know what was going on out of respect for everyone on Home and Family and the Network. I was asked to wait and I have but now I feel I should out of respect for YOU let you know.
It’s really very simple, Home and Family will have a season 5 which I am so happy for and the Network decided that they want a new co-host and that will be Debbie. She will do a great job!
You can still reach me here on facebook and we shall continue honoring love of family and friends. I truly LOVE you all. You have been my rainbow!
What do you think? Are you sorry that Ferrare is no longer a co-host on Home & Family? Will you continue to watch? Should the show be cancelled or, is Ferrare’s replacement a good idea?

I will no longer watch the show. It is typical of what is happening today with Ageism. I also love Kim Douglas but look out as you are probably next.
I saw Debbie in there but thought Christina was on vacation. I kept checking back but when Christina did not show, I googled what happened. I’m done with this show. Sorry.
CHTISTINA ………thank you from the bottom of our hearts for making us feel like part of your family every morning……it was genuine….could see it in your eyes and feel it from your heart…I can see from all these wonderful loving posts from viewers who used to watch was because of you!! You always made us feel welcome and included and always made every Holiday seem special…especially for those who have no family…you included each and every person as if they were your own family…..I myself have family but never was one to get that excited over sending Holiday cards and… Read more »
No, I am not happy that Christina has been replaced. Her and Mark had a special unique relationship. I will not continue to watch.
I don’t know if I will continue to watch as I miss Christina as the host I think she was a great host and very real and contributed so much to the show.I like
Debbie but she can never replace Christina. So sorry you made such a bad choice in letting Christina go.
I was a huge fan of Martha Stewart whom this show, Home & Family, replaced. I was heartbroken when Martha was took away however I ATTEMPTED to give this show a chance.*smh* They replaced the wrong person!!!! Mark is to, to, TO egotistical. I like Christina. He is just a poor choice. This show does not equal to MS in any way!!
I stopped watching about Christina was replaced. I watched while they said she was on vacation and was so tired of Debbie. I could not wait until Christina came back. Therefore I quit watching. Turned it on today and still can’t watch it. Debbie is so fake and Christina was the perfect match with Mark. She was so qenuine caring person and just completed the show. I do miss the other regulars but just have a very hard time watching it. Guess will have to record @@nd just skip to the features I enjoy. Debbie is terrible in the kitchen
We loved Cristina. We also loved Debbie, went along with the change thinking it was Cristina’s decision to leave. Now several weeks into Debbie, we prefer Cristina. One of the things I loved about the show was watching her clothing . She was a real woman with a real look. I am 67 so maybe just me but I am sure
many woman watching the show could never wear those little number that Debbie wears!
Debbie is ok but Cristina is great, why give up great for OK!
I miss Cristina terribly. I am sure Debbie is a nice person but she definitely is not able to fill Cristin’s shoes. Debbie is not as polished or as warm as Cristina. Keep Debbie out of the kitchen because her inexperience frustrates me. I was such a loyal viewer but now I may watch once or twice a week. Please consider giving Cristina her own show!
Christina was most definitely the heart and soul of Home & Family. To replace her for selfish reasoning gives whoever in charge such lack of character. Deep down, I’m sure Mark is pissed. I will no longer be watching my once favorite morning show ever!
ii have personally missed Christina she made the show don’t feel the same anymore i”ll be watching something else
challenging to watch show again and will have to stop watching without Christina who was a great balance to Mark….with her grace, charm. humor. Her calm energy balanced Mark high energy. Debbie is good gal but 2 high energy hosts is too hyper to watch….trying to up each other on humor…..without Christina the show will lose viewers…bad move and not handled well at all for program that includes word “family”
I am disappointed to just find this out. I thought Christina was on vacation or just out for a short time. This is so wrong. Sadly I won’t be watching either. She made the show and was who most woman young and old related to. Best of Luck Christina and I’m hating the lot of changes I’m seeing in hall mark.
I do no feel that Christina should have been replaced. The show isn’t the same. I will not be watching as before.
Miss Christina and I am not that interested in watching the show anymore. I’m quite surprised I was able to find out this information when I turn the program on and I didn’t see her and I saw the other woman day after day I figured as much. That’s the way they do things today I guess. I want to wish Christina the very best.
