Yesterday, Hallmark Channel announced that host Cristina Ferrare would be replaced as co-host by regular contributor Debbie Matenopoulos. The cable channel didn’t specify when the change would take place.
Today, co-host Mark Steines made a quick announcement that Ferrare had left the show and that Matenopoulos would be replacing her, effective immediately. Ferrare hadn’t been on the show for two weeks and didn’t return for a send-off.
Fans of the show have been concerned if Ferrare was sick and have been wondering if the decision to leave was her decision. On her Facebook page, Ferrare confirmed that she is not sick and essentially says that she was fired. She wrote:
Okay here goes, I feel it’s important to finally step up to the plate and let you know what is happening.
First may I say that my family and I have been so thankful and appreciative for all the love, support, prayers, and good wishes you have been sending me on a daily basis for the past three weeks. It pained me so that I was unable to let you know what was going on out of respect for everyone on Home and Family and the Network. I was asked to wait and I have but now I feel I should out of respect for YOU let you know.
It’s really very simple, Home and Family will have a season 5 which I am so happy for and the Network decided that they want a new co-host and that will be Debbie. She will do a great job!
You can still reach me here on facebook and we shall continue honoring love of family and friends. I truly LOVE you all. You have been my rainbow!

I’m still upset that Christine left the show Home and Family so abruptly! I still miss her and find it difficult to watch Home and family.
I’m so sorry to see Christina will no longer be on the show, I will not be watching again.
So sad to see another woman of my generation shown the door in favor of someone younger. I will no longer be watching.
I am sorry to see Christina is gone. She was the best. I won’t be tuning in going forward.Show is just not the same.

I have never been so disappointed in a show as i am this one. You have made a huge mistake. I tried to watch with Debbie but it is terrible. She thinks she is the greatest. She doesn’t even let Mark talk. Christina was a true host. Her and Mark were great together. Another fan LOST. Keep this up & you won’t have any fans left.

What a huge mistake. Christina made the show and was good paired with Mark. She embodied home and family. Not impressed with new host Debbie. Will not be watching
My Aunt, cousin and myself had the pleasure of going to see Home & Family being taped yesterday! We had known for a couple of weeks when our attendance date was. But in the mean time I found out Christina was no longer the host! I had been so looking forward to seeing her in person and was very disappointed to hear she was no longer with the show! She is such a warm and genuine person, funny also! She will be missed!
This was a big mistake. Debbie is just wrong for the job. Cristina had the class and poise, experience and everyone loved her. With due respect to Debbie, she just doesn’t have the chemistry with Mark or the ability to engage the guests. This is crazy and I find myself bored now with the show.
I am very disappointed Cristina is not there I will no longer watch the show I have watched her own other shows since the early nineties very disappointed in your decision thank you.
I am so sorry that the network did that to you. My husband and I have been wondering what happened. You were and still are a wonderful co-host. Our thoughts and prayers go with you. What a shame. You were perfect for this show. I do not watch this show anymore because of what they did to you.
I will not be watching any longer.. Christine was doing a great job.. Sad that it’s always about youth , not about people paycheck, family to take care of, should be ashamed of yourselves.,
I have enjoyed watching the Hallmark channels. I was very disappointed when Christina was no longer a host on Home & Family. It is sad that Hallmark fired her; I have stopped watching the show.
Bring her back, you just cannot replace some people. I do not know if your ratings have gone up or down but I miss seeing Christina Ferrare.
