There weren’t big ratings for ABC Family’s Huge series so the cable channel has cancelled it after just 10 episodes.
Huge follows a group of seven teenagers who are sent to weight-loss camp with diverse results. The cast includes Nikki Blonsky, Hayley Hasselhoff, Raven Goodwin, Ari Stidham, Ashley Holliday, Harvey Guillen, Stefan Van Ray, Jacob Wysocki, Molly Tarlov, Gina Torres, Zander Eckhouse, Zoe Jarman, and Paul Dooley.
The show debuted to a 0.9 rating in the 18-49 demographic last June with 2.53 million viewers. ABC Family bragged that it was their biggest series launch to date among women 18-49 and second largest in adults 18-49 and women 18-34.

Unfortunately, the numbers started to fall in week two and slowly kept dropping off. By week eight, Huge hit a series low with a 0.5 rating in the demo and 1.34 million viewers. That represents an audience loss of about 45% since the debut. The last episode of the season attracted just a 0.6 rating and 1.45 million total viewers.
Now, according to Deadline, ABC Family has decided to cancel Huge. Unfortunately for the show’s loyal viewers, there won’t be a second season or a true series finale. The last episode aired on August 30th.
The decision to cancel Huge doesn’t really come as a surprise, especially if you look at the great success that ABC Family has been having with other new shows like Pretty Little Liars and Melissa & Joey.
What do you think? Are you sorry to hear that Huge has been cancelled? Why do you think more people didn’t tune in?

So sad. ABC Family just wrote those fat kids off, just like everyone else in their lives. Great lesson ABC Family, you really are all about the family ain’t ya? They could only get 1.34 MILLION VIEWERS!!! These tv networks haven’t got a clue how to track who’s watching their shows. I LOVED this show!
Huge is a very good show. I started watching the series, but then stupid abc family started to use the blackout technique so i couldnt watch it anymore. That really sucked cuz i loved it
NOOOOO!!!!! I would never find out what will happen to Ian and Will and Amber and George and all those other people and ahhh…. I loved that show. I started to be sad when I saw the girl who played Poppy on the Office on November 4, 2010

I watched this show because i wanted to pork every one of them lovely chubbies.
I feel like the world needs to be exposed to this series for one more season to see if people want to watch, because Huge was my favorite show…
I watched the show, and I just thought it wasn’t that entertaining. And I think Nikki Blonsky is wrong for the role she is playing. Plus, we’ve seen her play the semi-rebellious overweight girl in that lifetime movie. I have no problem with the show’s premise and I think it was a fantastic idea for a show, especially because there is no other show like it. But the writing isn’t that great.
I was really enjoying the show. I was looking forward to it every week. I’m tired of all the shows that have fashion obsessed, pretty, skinny girls. It was nice to have a show that had real issues.
And to the person above me:
Will’s parents own CORE, the fitness program/place that is so popular. I’m not entirely sure on that, but thats what I think. It was going to be a good twist.
Oh my God, I just realized now we will never find out what the deal was with Will’s parents, ugh.
I am very disappointed to discover the cancellation of Huge due to better success of ‘pretty little liars’ and whatever that other show was… ‘pretty little liars’ is an unrealistic story aimed at pre-teens, whereas Huge is realistic and actually shows the real issues that surround us every day, it should be aimed at young adults. I guess I will just read the book. The show was very good and those are rare.
THIS SHOW WAS RELATABLE TO SOOOO MANY PEOPLE. IT GAVE VOICES TO THOSE WHO FELT THEY DIDN’T HAVE ONE. SELF-IMAGE IS A MAJOR CONCERN AND THE FACT THAT 1 INDIVIDUAL ON THE SHOW >[ACCEPTED]< HERSELF. AND I PERSONALLY THINK THAT'S WHAT THEY SHOW WAS ABOUT. AND UNDERSTANDING THE MINDSET OF AN INDIVIDUAL WHO SUFFERS FROM WHATEVER IT IS THEY SUFFER FROM.
I didn’t get to watch all of the episodes on ABC, but watched them on line. It was the day of the show being on that made it hard for me to see it. I was so looking forward to season 2. I love this show. I watched some episodes 2 or more times. I could hardly wait to see season 2 and then find out that ABC has cancelled the show. It was such good show. People just don’t know what is good on tv anymore. I remember all the shows I watched growing up and have not found… Read more »
I love the show and i hope they bring it back. I think it was about time some put the facts out there when it came to issue of young ppl and there weight
i loved this show! im still hoping they might decide to bring it back!!
That’s unfortunate…. it was good to see a show actually do something most people avoid, being overweight is a major problem in America today… I thought it was showing something not everyone realizes.
