There weren’t big ratings for ABC Family’s Huge series so the cable channel has cancelled it after just 10 episodes.
Huge follows a group of seven teenagers who are sent to weight-loss camp with diverse results. The cast includes Nikki Blonsky, Hayley Hasselhoff, Raven Goodwin, Ari Stidham, Ashley Holliday, Harvey Guillen, Stefan Van Ray, Jacob Wysocki, Molly Tarlov, Gina Torres, Zander Eckhouse, Zoe Jarman, and Paul Dooley.
The show debuted to a 0.9 rating in the 18-49 demographic last June with 2.53 million viewers. ABC Family bragged that it was their biggest series launch to date among women 18-49 and second largest in adults 18-49 and women 18-34.

Unfortunately, the numbers started to fall in week two and slowly kept dropping off. By week eight, Huge hit a series low with a 0.5 rating in the demo and 1.34 million viewers. That represents an audience loss of about 45% since the debut. The last episode of the season attracted just a 0.6 rating and 1.45 million total viewers.
Now, according to Deadline, ABC Family has decided to cancel Huge. Unfortunately for the show’s loyal viewers, there won’t be a second season or a true series finale. The last episode aired on August 30th.
The decision to cancel Huge doesn’t really come as a surprise, especially if you look at the great success that ABC Family has been having with other new shows like Pretty Little Liars and Melissa & Joey.

WHAT?! ;( this show meant a lot to me!!! It was finally a show where no one was a size 2!!!!!!!!!!!!! That means a lot to most teens these days!!!
ARE THEY KIDDING??? Melissa and Joey they keep and cancel Huge. Who is running ABC family. Melissa and Joey is the worst.
WOW, really? And I JUST finished watching the first season online.. I was trying to do some research as to when the next season was going to air and I find out it’s been canceled. This sucks so much, I can’t even speak right now.
I personally loved the show. While I am not overweight and do not have weight issues I thought the show was amazing and it gave a great perspective on what it feels like to be overweight and a teen. This show could have been a great achievement for ABC unlike their overly annoying show where everyone is getting pregnant and having sex and the acting (oh dear Lord!) is TERRIBLE! I am absolutely heartbroken that the show has been cancelled. I felt like it was a breath of fresh air compared to everything else airing on T.V currently. The least they could do is air a final episode!!! They will be recieving several letters from me and everyone I know. I will not stand for not knowing what happened.
I can’t believe they cancelled it; so stupid. It was so well written, made me tear up every week. People just only want to look at skinny people. Pathetic.

Really? This could have been a really great opportunity for ABC to make an important impact on some individuals lives by giving a voice to individuals that don’t feel like they have a ‘fit’ in this vanity obsessed society. Too bad they went for the safe choice over a really well written show. You other ‘sucessful’ show blow!
I don’t get why they can air shows about teen sex (ya ya ya sex sells) on a family channel but they can’t show us a series about issues that many face today! It’s ABC FAMILY last time I checked, the shows on that channel now don’t show a very appropriate view on family values. They talk about divorce and sex more then fitting in and finding our full potential as individuals. It’s really too bad about the media and it’s affect on family life. Especially this channel…it’s a let down.
I can’t believe this show was cancelled. I loved it because it wasn’t full of a bunch of skinny cookie cutter characters. I’m tired of seeing a bunch of skinny beautiful people on tv. This show was full of people who were beautiful, most importantly on the inside. It suck ABC Family is canceling it and i think its ridiculous.
I thought it was a really well written show about a very serious subject, but done with some humor. I hate that it has been cancelled. It seems like the good shows are cancelled, and the crap lives on and on.
I can’t BELIEVE that they cancelled this show! I’m in total disbelief! I was really looking forward to starting the new shoes and seeing what happens between the blonde headed chick and the counseler! I wanted to know WHY she was there and what struggles she was going through. I wanted to know about all of the actors a little bit more and what their struggles were. This blows man. The show had some witty humor unlike a lot of these other new shows. Huge just fell into a crappy time slot. This sucks. Bad.
my heart is broken. the stories of these characters were so important to me… i am in a really bad situation and, for one hour every week i was able to find solace in this show – i would watch it every week as it was airing LIVE, commercials and all (…abc, i watched your sponsors’ commercials and supported them…) …and we don’t get to see, really, these kids’ lives be okay. i watch a lot of tv and have seen a lot of shows i liked go – including, kyle xy another abc family show ended on the WORST/most… Read more »
