There weren’t big ratings for ABC Family’s Huge series so the cable channel has cancelled it after just 10 episodes.
Huge follows a group of seven teenagers who are sent to weight-loss camp with diverse results. The cast includes Nikki Blonsky, Hayley Hasselhoff, Raven Goodwin, Ari Stidham, Ashley Holliday, Harvey Guillen, Stefan Van Ray, Jacob Wysocki, Molly Tarlov, Gina Torres, Zander Eckhouse, Zoe Jarman, and Paul Dooley.
The show debuted to a 0.9 rating in the 18-49 demographic last June with 2.53 million viewers. ABC Family bragged that it was their biggest series launch to date among women 18-49 and second largest in adults 18-49 and women 18-34.

Unfortunately, the numbers started to fall in week two and slowly kept dropping off. By week eight, Huge hit a series low with a 0.5 rating in the demo and 1.34 million viewers. That represents an audience loss of about 45% since the debut. The last episode of the season attracted just a 0.6 rating and 1.45 million total viewers.
Now, according to Deadline, ABC Family has decided to cancel Huge. Unfortunately for the show’s loyal viewers, there won’t be a second season or a true series finale. The last episode aired on August 30th.
The decision to cancel Huge doesn’t really come as a surprise, especially if you look at the great success that ABC Family has been having with other new shows like Pretty Little Liars and Melissa & Joey.
What do you think? Are you sorry to hear that Huge has been cancelled? Why do you think more people didn’t tune in?

I just now reading bout HUGE being cancelled & I’m extremely upset! If they can bring back The Game on BET.. Then we can get back HUGE.. I may not be a teenager but I can relate to being overweight.. I have been overweight all my life & have tried many diets & exercises & no success.. This show helped me 2 love myself.. I have been to camps & made fun of cause I wasn’t 110 – 130 lbs like all of the other girls.. Bring the show back & at least give us a real ending to the… Read more »
at least give me a real ending – i need some closure.
i REALLY loved that show! it was legit. Many people could relate to that show!
I. Loved. That. Show.
Plain & simple.
Bring it back !
I was very dissapointed to see this cancellation. As a teen I believe it touched on many hot subjects that teens are concerned about these days.
I cant believe its cancelled that was the only sho actually showing what its like to be over weight and how much trouble physically and emotional. Im not suprised becasue America is based off looks. So the majority of people who didnt like it are most likely skinny folks who dont know what its like and dont care, and that upsets me we see shows with thin people all the time and know one just cancels them after 10 episodes. Its a shame……… just a shame……:(
I just can’t believe it they cancelled this series. Those characters are real, true to themselves and with still so many aspects to explore! Something 90210 & Co don’t have. Bring it back!
That’s some Bull ****!!!! I’ve been waiting to watch it again!
i really hope that abc family decides to bring back Huge..i loved this show..it was one of my favorites. i agree with everyone else that the only reason people didnt watch this show was because there wasnt enough gorgeous 110lb people on it. i really hope that abc family changes their mind. i would love to see this show come back on the air.
I loved HUGE! It was an awesome show about what people are going through in real life. I thought it was very inspiring because it’s not one of those shows where all the actors and actresses aren’t like 120 lbs, it shows what real people are going through, not the fake ones like on PLL. I am really going to miss this show, it was my favorite! I hope they decide to bring it back!
This is not shocking, Most american viewers are modelizers and if you don’t give them their fix of unrealistically beautiful people to watch then they loose interest. which is a huge shame for those of us who love good american television, but the better the quality or how real a show is it’ll get cancelled. there is a reason why the CW is so successfull, model like actresses like annalyn Macord, who can’t act her way out of a paperbag.
Thank you Milan because thats exactly what happened. they dont know what its like to be obese and if they dont think its beautiful than they want nothing to do with it. thats the only show that i could actually relate to.
It made me cry, I loved that show!
I’m very sad it was canceled too – it was really good. :c
i really enjoyed the show and an very dissapointed it was cancelled.. what because it didnt have skinny tooth pick people like pretty little liars ex… Huge was real and it had real people in it.. just because america hates fat people is the main reason i think the show was cancelled i guess if your not 5’9 and wear a size 2 your not excepted… bring the show back it was awesome
Thank You for telling it like it is.
I agree! The show doesn’t stand a chance if you’re not 5’9, wear a size 2, rich and bratty.
Terrible, I think the downfall of this show was the time slot. You aired a show to a demographic at a time when teens and young adults are outside not watching television. I was a loyal watcher and am truely disappointed.
