What’s This TV Show About?
An AMC martial arts drama, Into the Badlands stars Daniel Wu, Eleanor Matsuura, Stephen Lang, Sherman Augustus, Babu Ceesay, Orla Brady, Aramis Knight, Emily Beecham, Ally Ioannides, Lorraine Toussaint, Ella-Rae Smith, Lewis Tan, Dean-Charles Chapman, and Nick Frost. The post-apocalyptic series unfolds centuries into the future, in a feudal society called the Badlands.
Season three kicks off after Veil’s death. Sunny (Wu) and his son, Henry, are living off the grid, when the baby takes ill. Sunny teams up with Bajie (Frost) to journey back into the Badlands, where The Widow (Beecham) and Baron Chau (Matsuura) are engaged in a protracted war. Meanwhile, an enigmatic nomad named Pilgrim (Ceesay) arrives with claims of ushering in a new era of “peace.” Soon, enemies will ally themselves to defend the Badlands.
Season Three Ratings

Will AMC cancel or renew Into the Badlands for season four? The ratings are way down but the show is still a middle of the road performer for AMC. I suspect the show will be renewed but that prediction could change if the numbers keep falling. I’ll keep a hungry eye on the ratings and update this page with breaking developments. Of course they should renew! The problem is the break in between season. Why are we wauting for a complete season. The hiatus ONLY hurts the show. ENUFF with the delay….bring on the show.
I hope they finish Season 3 and keep going onto a Season 4. Just been binge watching having come across it by accident on pay TV, Foxtel Now in Oz, and it does a pretty good job of Martial Arts, Magic of Ninjah type stuff, politics, gameplaying rivalries and the personal and common good for its characters wrapped up in a post-apocalyptic future with remnants of our present scattered around the place. Best show ever. Martial arts, poppies, and a really great concept of a a post-apocalyptic primitive culture that is territorial and down right brutal. Its so wonderful to see an exciting show that translates well conceptually without the need for gun violence. It would be a disservice to the program’s followers that truely appreciate this show for what it brings to a nightly lineup that is lacking in comparison with its originality, cinematic charisma, and sheer simplicstic beauty. Season 4, we are all waiting!

I don’t watch many TV shows, but make an exception for Into The Badlands. It’s quality fare with a damn fine story, superb acting and enough badassery to make it worthwhile.
A season 4 would be excellent.

I cant wait for season 4 I. love this movie the best ever better than the zombie nonsense walking dead…Amc please don’t cancel such a beautiful show..I watch this on repeat all seasons over and over can’t get enough.
Don’t cancel Into the Badlands. This is a great fill in series between Walking Dead seasons. Was not sure I would like this series at first but I think it has turned out to be very interesting and entertaining. Somebody commented the they never explained how the world got this way. Haven’t explained really how Walking Dead got this way but look at it now. 9 seasons and still going

Please bring Into the Badlands back! We have really enjoyed following the story line and the characters.
Far too many new characters in the third season and this may the main reason ratings fell in the third season.. It seemed to me anyway the newer characters in the third season got more airtime than the veteran characters.. Into the Badlands needs to cut the large cast and refocus on the veteran characters while also introducing new characters to keep the show fresh.
The main problem is, they keep introducing new mysteries without any major reveals or payoffs. Three seasons and we still don’t know what happened in the past that caused this world, what the dark power is all about etc. The entire season 2 was just a big filler, with Quinn coming back from the dead, and defeated again. Really hope they give a good closure and don’t leave the show hanging when its cancelled.
I agree. They got too ambitious, too many characters. Strayed from the great father/son formula of MK & Sunny, which was very appealing. Both Aramis Knight & Daniel Wu gave solid portrayals and the story arc was superb. But I think its too late to turn this juggernaut of excess plot devices and superfluity of characters around. However, MK was so well inhabited by young actor Aramis Knight, and Daniel Wu is so powerful on screen, I think they could do a spin off.
