TVGuide is reporting that NBC has unceremoniously cancelled Las Vegas after five seasons on the air.
Las Vegas debuted on September 22, 2003 and was touted as actor James Caan’s first series regular role on television. The Academy Award-nominated actor was cast as the Montecito casino’s Head of Security, ‘Big Ed’ Deline. Others in the cast have included Nikki Cox, Josh Duhamel, James Lesure, Vanessa Marcil, Molly Sims, and Marsha Thomason.
Caan left the series last year to return to his movie career and Cox was cut from the show in a cost-cutting move. Caan was replaced by Tom Selleck and it was hoped that the addition of the veteran TV actor would help revitalize the series. It didn’t and, coupled with the series’ move to Friday nights, the ratings dropped significantly.
Last year, Las Vegas was one of the earliest NBC shows to get a renewal notice. What a difference a year can make.
NBC has opted not to renew Las Vegas for season six. Unlike Friday Night Lights, Vegas apparently doesn’t warrant shopping to other possible outlets and fans of the series are left with a cliffhanger. The last two episodes aired last Friday and was first in the ratings for both hours, Unbeknownst to viewers at the time, it was likely the last time we’ll see the staff of the Montecito. Stay tuned!
bring back las vegas…
would you at tnt make an ending movie for las vagas.
nbc sucks big ones what the hell.
Watching the series on TNT I thought I missed something with the “final” episode so I rented the last DVD at Netflix. Of course I didn’t miss anything – it was a cliff hanger designed I am sure to lead into the next season, which didn’t happen. In the bonus material on the DVD, they talked about episodes already shot including James Caan’s return in guest appearances. So who ever owns these episodes PLEASE release them so fans can at least resolve the cliff hangers!! Las Vegas continued to be fresh and fun and engaging up to the end, unlike… Read more »
I agree I would love to see these episodes the cliffhanger killed me really liked vegas.
oops! I meant TNT not USA.
I recently started watching (reruns) Las Vegas on USA and I LOVE IT!!! It’s so sad to hear there won’t be anymore of it! I’m really hoping to atleast catch most of the repeats on that channel!!!
Las Vegas had it all, the cast, comedy, drama, action, love, sexy women , each character had an intriging background story, i could go on for so long. When you put all of this together into one tv series it creates one of the best tv series ever, i bought every single boxset watched every single episode because it was such a great show. Not a lot of shows would make me so interested in seeing the next one. Most importantly though it had the viewers, dedicated viewers who spend money for this entertainment, so ive watched this show for 5 years… Read more »
Never watched TV that much, especially never made plans to watch a show at a specific time, now I have been watching re-runs of the show from start to finish Monday-Friday at 9pm, and NBC has gone and cancelled it. I pretty much steer clear of NBC now, just my way of showing huge dissapointment in them.
It seems like NBC never realizes what they have- and then it’s gone.
It must be populated by exec’s that don’t have a clue as to what the public like to watch.
Very sad.
Bring back Las Vegas…. amen to that baby!
NBC YOU ROCK!!…………………NOT
So glad I have NCIS and Crimnal minds on CBS. Las Vegas was one of my top5 favorite shows of all time.
This sucks!!!!!! After a year of trying to get the family involved, show gets cut!! I had the whole family, watching the show!!:) Now their mad at me…. What the hell!!! How could you, NBC!:/
I love Las Vegas! Couldn’t you at least do one more season to wrap things up! i mean its kinda being left open!!! that really sucks! i hate when producers cut off shows without really ending things!
NBC, so you think you really know your audience? The faithful ones? You don’t. Las Vegas was one my favorites. The writers did a great job coming up with new plots, and Tom Selleck gave the show more star power. I thought the show was getting better. So what if they moved the series to Friday night. You should have caned Friday Night Lights. Now there is nothing to watch on Friday nights.
NBC SUCKS !!!
Las Vegas was one of the greatest shows of all time. I know people have different opinions on different subjects, and this is mine, ” Greatest show of all time.” NBC has left the Las Vegas fan base with nothing. We need closier on the show. Your veiwers are what pay the bills, and you have really let us down. You could’ve at least given us one more show, one more season, or a tv movie to give us the closier we desire. I don’t even watch regular tv, it’s usually the science channel or something of that nature, so… Read more »
like always NBC cuts cost in only the most profitable of places (I know, I use to work for them) NBC-Universal never sees the big picture, only the immediate costs. Universal made shows like “House” and “bones” and whatecer else but saw the quick buck dollar signs and sold the shows to FOX network who rakes in the big cash with the advertising that NBC could of had. but no! they rather keep shows like “30 Rock” and “The Office” that others dont want to buy as much and fewer people watch. Las Vegas could have made so much more… Read more »
I can’t believe that they left us hanging like that. I’ve enjoyed the show so much talk about desrespecting the fans just leaving us out to wonder.
