We all saw it coming. One of the most anticipated TV shows of the new fall season, Lone Star, has been cancelled after two episodes.
Lone Star centers around a handsome conman (James Wolk) who lives a double life to swindle investors and an oil tycoon family. He starts to have regrets and struggles to balance both lives and keep everybody happy. Others in the series are Jon Voight, Adrianne Palicki, Bryce Johnson, David Keith, Eloise Mumford, and Mark Deklin.
The FOX series debuted last week to a very disappointing 1.3 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 4.1 million total viewers. Last night, despite several days of buzz and campaigning to get new viewers, the ratings fell even lower to a 1.0 rating in the demo and 3.23 million viewers. As was the case in week one, many people who started watching tuned out before the episode was over. For whatever reason, it just didn’t click.
Lone Star has been cancelled effective immediately and the three remaining unaired episodes have been shelved. There’s no word if FOX will get around to releasing the remaining episodes at some point in the future.
Last week, the cast and crew were shooting the sixth installment. Production has now been shut down and it’s unclear if that episode was completed.
Lone Star’s spot will be filled by the season three premiere of Lie to Me.
What do you think? Are you sorry to see Lone Star be cancelled? If you watched, where do you think it went wrong?
UPDATE: Subsequent reports have indicated that there are six completed episodes with four left unaired.

It was a good show. I’m pissed that it was cancelled!!
Bad mistake – bring it back !
Well, I have so BUMMED!!!!! Rushed home from work to catch Lone Star, and found out it has been cancelled – what? This was the best new show of the season on ANY channel. I have been waiting to be able to watch James Wolk on a weekly series, he is a GREAT actor, and the story was so interesting – I am just hoping that another channel picks it up – SOON!
Loved the show…can’t believe it has been canceled. Great story line and characters…rethink the cancellation.. Different day/time would be great.
What is Fox thinking…….I guess there not !!! That really sucks !!! Once again a great show has been cut …..could ya just have given the show a little more time ….I mean REALLY !!
I don’t think the season wasn’t given a chance. I believe it was placed on a time slot with too many great episode, that it couldn’t compete. I hop Fox network think of placing the episodes on a different day & time slot.
Great show, I think it deserved more than two episodes, wow big disappointment to discover this has been canceled. It would have been interesting to see where it went, it seemed like the gig was up already, but then I couldn’t figure out how they could stretch out Prison Break after they broke out. 😉
I am so disappointed! I loved the new show Lonestar. It was something with new to watch on tv with an great story line. I thought James was one the hottest new guys on
tv!The network did not even give the show a chance. I was soo looking forward to watching it tonight.
I couldnt believe that Lone Star was going to be axed already!!!! Give it a chance!
I really enjoyed it, the acting was super, I think Fox screwed this one up by getting rid
of it
You stupid *****! Best show I’ve seen in a while!
KISS IT, FOX!!! I WON’T BE WATCHING ANY OF YOUR SCHLOCK THAT YOU CALL PROGRAMMING AGAIN..PERIOD!!! (Yeah, I know; Mr. Top Dog is saying, “You’ll be back..”) Anyone that does deserves the same to happen again .. and again .. to them. No wonder cable is kicking your derriere.
You wouldn’t know a hit if it bit you in the butt.
I loved Lone Star just after the two episodes. But I did keep the remote in my hand so I could switch back and forth between it and Dancing with the Stars. I believe another time slot would have been better and I would hope that another station could pick it up!
I’m so,so ,so upset. I loved the show and so did my family members. Why would they take a show off with just two episodes. This was one of the many mistakes made by network’s not giving series a chance but giving Reality t.v .open chances to fill the airways. In my opinion the rating system is questionable. Very bad idea Fox.
I was totally shocked that this was cancelled at all let alone after only 2 episodes! I agree with most of the other comments. You have to give it a chance or move it to another time slot and/or day. I really would like to know who actually schedules the time and day slots for shows as it seems that EVERY year shows are moved around or completely taken off and forgotten ….
I cant believe it. I waited all week to look and see that it wasnt on. What a dispointment!
