We all saw it coming. One of the most anticipated TV shows of the new fall season, Lone Star, has been cancelled after two episodes.
Lone Star centers around a handsome conman (James Wolk) who lives a double life to swindle investors and an oil tycoon family. He starts to have regrets and struggles to balance both lives and keep everybody happy. Others in the series are Jon Voight, Adrianne Palicki, Bryce Johnson, David Keith, Eloise Mumford, and Mark Deklin.
The FOX series debuted last week to a very disappointing 1.3 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 4.1 million total viewers. Last night, despite several days of buzz and campaigning to get new viewers, the ratings fell even lower to a 1.0 rating in the demo and 3.23 million viewers. As was the case in week one, many people who started watching tuned out before the episode was over. For whatever reason, it just didn’t click.
Lone Star has been cancelled effective immediately and the three remaining unaired episodes have been shelved. There’s no word if FOX will get around to releasing the remaining episodes at some point in the future.
Last week, the cast and crew were shooting the sixth installment. Production has now been shut down and it’s unclear if that episode was completed.
Lone Star’s spot will be filled by the season three premiere of Lie to Me.
What do you think? Are you sorry to see Lone Star be cancelled? If you watched, where do you think it went wrong?
UPDATE: Subsequent reports have indicated that there are six completed episodes with four left unaired.

Bring lonestar back – I’m so sick of all the cop shows it was great to have something original again !!!
those asses didnt even give it a chance i thought it was a very good show they needed to give it more time
Both my wife and I watched Lone Star and we both think it was a good show. How in the world can you take it off after only two weeks. There is a lot of junk on TV that remains.
My husband and I liked Lone Star! We’re disappointed it was cancelled. It had an intriguing story and good actors! Why would it get cancelled when it was a lot better than some other shows that have been kept for this coming season on other networks. (Has anyone seen the crap called The Gates?)
I’m getting sick of Fox cancelling good stuff. Terminator was good, too.
Don’t usually comment on things like this, however, I was checking my dvr for the latest episode, didn’t see it, so I got on the internet to watch. Lo and behold, the series is cancelled. Cancelled before it go t started? Cancelled when its stiffest competition, i.e. Dancing With Ths Tars and The Event were just launching also. Canceled when there was really very little hype, promo that went into the show unlike the DWTS, The Event and other shows in that sme time slot. This show could be saved. Change the time slot, change the air day, don’t cancel… Read more »
My husband and I really enjoyed this show. I thought it was original. I would have liked to seen more of James Wolk. Where the heck did he come from? He was very convincing in this role. I would have liked to seen where this could have gone. It’s too bad it was cancelled. It was one of the best things I’ve seen on TV in a long time. Bring it back!!!!!
Really liked the show. Disappointed that it was cancelled. Better than a lot of shows (new and/or returned). Hope they finished the series and eventually show the rest of the shows.
the show wasn’t given even close to enough time to catch on. The show was good, it had potential and was not promoted enough. Also, the time slot is up against 2 1/2 men, the number one show with an established audience….it was destined to fail to get market share. Place it on another night, promote it on the morning shows and see what happens, you just may have a HIT here that was simply mismanaged by the network program directors…are you listening program director, put your ego in your pocket and give it another shot. Imagine if your cancelled… Read more »
Great show, my wife and I couldn’t believe it was canceled. I hope it is picked up by a cable network, TNT, FX, Show, HBO…
I absolutely loved Lone Star and I am very disappointed it went off the air!! I say bring it back!
I really liked Lonestar. I tuned in on the third Monday only to find a different show on. I’m very dissapointed it was cancelled. The last few years I’m finding less and less TV shows that are any good. This one had real potential. It was the first time in years I called TV and make a point to not be busy during this hour. I guess I’ll be busy again.
Very disapointed it was cancelled! My boyfriend and I really liked the show and were looking forward to the next show.
Lie to Me is a terrible show. In the past I have thought Tim Roth was a good actor, but on this show he’s obnoxious, annoying, and completely uninteresting. Lone Star certainly looked like it was going to be better than Lie to Me, which a full hour of white noise could top.
This was a really good show. Beat all that reality crap that is out there now. Kind of like Dallas…can’t wait to see what happens the next week. Please bring back some descent shows. I so sick of all this phony reality stuff…you have to deal with this in real life who wants to watch it too.
ME AND MY WIFE BOTH LIKED THE TV SHOW LONE STAR IT COULD OF BECAME ANOTHER DALLAS IF YOU BIG SHOTS GAVE IT A CHANCE
