We all saw it coming. One of the most anticipated TV shows of the new fall season, Lone Star, has been cancelled after two episodes.
Lone Star centers around a handsome conman (James Wolk) who lives a double life to swindle investors and an oil tycoon family. He starts to have regrets and struggles to balance both lives and keep everybody happy. Others in the series are Jon Voight, Adrianne Palicki, Bryce Johnson, David Keith, Eloise Mumford, and Mark Deklin.
The FOX series debuted last week to a very disappointing 1.3 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 4.1 million total viewers. Last night, despite several days of buzz and campaigning to get new viewers, the ratings fell even lower to a 1.0 rating in the demo and 3.23 million viewers. As was the case in week one, many people who started watching tuned out before the episode was over. For whatever reason, it just didn’t click.
Lone Star has been cancelled effective immediately and the three remaining unaired episodes have been shelved. There’s no word if FOX will get around to releasing the remaining episodes at some point in the future.
Last week, the cast and crew were shooting the sixth installment. Production has now been shut down and it’s unclear if that episode was completed.
Lone Star’s spot will be filled by the season three premiere of Lie to Me.
What do you think? Are you sorry to see Lone Star be cancelled? If you watched, where do you think it went wrong?
UPDATE: Subsequent reports have indicated that there are six completed episodes with four left unaired.

how can you even make a call like that after 2 shows. you guys get people hooked into watching these shows and then drop them. i bet the persons making these judgements do not even watch tv. it takes time to build an audience, everybody these days is looking for the quick fix, if you keep dumbing down tv with these rediculous reality tv shows then you’ll all be looking for a job someday. bring back the art of tv , like with this show and prove you can still make good tv.
VERY DISAPPOINTED! 🙁 I was hooked in the first 5 minutes. The least they could have done was aired the rest of the season. Was shocked and sad when House was over and I eagerly anticipated the third episode of Lone Star only to be let down. It should be given another chance!
My hubby and I were watching it, too. It was fascinating to see him juggle the two lives and I felt he would have come clean eventually and made up for his wrongdoings. It was in a good time spot right after HOUSE.
I loved it….how disappointing:(
I really enjoyed this show!! The only downfall was probably going against DWTS . I really think that Fox should try to air it again. It was a great show!!!
My son and I were already hooked on this new show. We both are very disappointed that this show was cancelled. How can a network cancel a show after two episodes??? I hope that the network reconsiders and brings this show back.
U really left me hangin! I thot it was a great idea. Good characters, storyline, etc. It was just getting very interesting. I loved all the twists & surprises around every corner. Just wat a good series should do….keep viewers’ attention by keeping it exiting! Sure hope it comes back on! It must.
I watched the first 2 episodes and though I was prepared to continue watching I felt that there was no way that they were going to complete the season without making it like a run-on sentence. It, to me, was an unrealistic situation that just wasnt possible to pull off, even for the best of con-artists.
Im sorry that the decision was made to cancel but the rating says it all.
Thats showbiz, good luck with the next one…
I don’t like weak guys..thus the dad was overly dependant on the son, who couldn’t seeminly think for himself. Parents shouldn’t use their kids..Plot was not on target, too over the top….I’m just saying.
My wife an i were already hooked… this news sucks.. they should play the remaining episodes..
what a shame
I am so disappointed this show has been canceled.
This is crazy. My husband and I got into the show and liked watching it. Before I found this out that it had been canceled I have looked in my tv guide every Monday, so I could record it just in case we were not home to watch it. We are very disappointed.
I enjoyed the progam-also, that it was on a night when there wasn’t much else to watch-I also don’t think anything was wrong with it-it did have a good story-line, as people do choose to love more than one person at a time-it was interesting, suspenseful, and a good program.
ME AND MY HUSBAND LOVE IT . WE WERE SO DISAPPOINTED TO SEE IT NOT ON THAT I HAD TO DO SOME RESEARCH THAT REALLY SUCKS. BRING LONESTAR BACK
