We all saw it coming. One of the most anticipated TV shows of the new fall season, Lone Star, has been cancelled after two episodes.
Lone Star centers around a handsome conman (James Wolk) who lives a double life to swindle investors and an oil tycoon family. He starts to have regrets and struggles to balance both lives and keep everybody happy. Others in the series are Jon Voight, Adrianne Palicki, Bryce Johnson, David Keith, Eloise Mumford, and Mark Deklin.
The FOX series debuted last week to a very disappointing 1.3 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 4.1 million total viewers. Last night, despite several days of buzz and campaigning to get new viewers, the ratings fell even lower to a 1.0 rating in the demo and 3.23 million viewers. As was the case in week one, many people who started watching tuned out before the episode was over. For whatever reason, it just didn’t click.
Lone Star has been cancelled effective immediately and the three remaining unaired episodes have been shelved. There’s no word if FOX will get around to releasing the remaining episodes at some point in the future.
Last week, the cast and crew were shooting the sixth installment. Production has now been shut down and it’s unclear if that episode was completed.
Lone Star’s spot will be filled by the season three premiere of Lie to Me.
What do you think? Are you sorry to see Lone Star be cancelled? If you watched, where do you think it went wrong?
UPDATE: Subsequent reports have indicated that there are six completed episodes with four left unaired.

I watched both episodes of Lone Star… where does Fox get the ratings info. My Aunt and Uncle in Texas also enjoyed in. Im in Arizona.
After House I watched Lone Star. I dont think Fox gave it a chance to catch on plus they had it against Two and A Half Men.
Not smart marketing. Where do Fox Executives get their educations from. I could of marketed it better with my Political Science degree.
I am really disappointed that this show is being cancelled! I really enjoyed watching it and couldn’t wait to see the next episode! My husbad also enjoyed this show and is disappointed.
I liked Lone Star very much and wanted to see it continue, but I feel the subject matter may have been a bit much for a large segment of viewers. It had a dark quality to it that is probably best suited for the more discriminating taste of the cable viewer. A cable network would do well in picking up. I see Lone Start easily rivaling a show such as True Blood.
Very Disappointed

I didn’t really like nor dislike the show. I watched bits and pieces of both aired episodes, but couldn’t make it through more than 10 minutes without changing the channel. Although I do think they should have at least aired half of the season before even considering cancellation. There were too many other good shows starting new seasons at the same time. It’s not smart to try and steal loyal viewers from other shows, it rarely ever works.
Sad, maybe all it needed was a different time-slot.
Bad mistake by fox. Bring it back please.
Sorry to see it go. I thought it had potential. It was on in tough time slot but never would have guessed they would cancel it.
This was the best new show of the season. I can’t believe that it was cancelled.
Huge mistake to cancel. Don’t think it really got a chance to get going. I really liked the two episodes. Would have liked to see more. Hoping they will give it another shot.
We were just watching the second episode (we Tivo-ed it) and were very disappointed to find it cancelled. We thought the plot was getting really good.
Too bad! I think Fox should give it another chance.
I really loved it !! i even watched it over again on hulu.com ! 🙁
Darn shame – good show, different, well-acted. No accounting for taste.
I was pumped Lone Star came on!! I’m so disappointed!
A wonderful, intriquing show that I was excited to watch and see the skill of deception. Big mistake to cancel.
I really liked Lone Star! I can’t believe it has been cancelled!!That really sucks.
I really liked the show Lone Star! I was looking forward to making this my Monday night show after House and since House ends fairly early, this was perfect! I am so disappointed! I wished Fox 5 would’ve given it a fair chance.
Totally agree with Gracie.
