We all saw it coming. One of the most anticipated TV shows of the new fall season, Lone Star, has been cancelled after two episodes.
Lone Star centers around a handsome conman (James Wolk) who lives a double life to swindle investors and an oil tycoon family. He starts to have regrets and struggles to balance both lives and keep everybody happy. Others in the series are Jon Voight, Adrianne Palicki, Bryce Johnson, David Keith, Eloise Mumford, and Mark Deklin.
The FOX series debuted last week to a very disappointing 1.3 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 4.1 million total viewers. Last night, despite several days of buzz and campaigning to get new viewers, the ratings fell even lower to a 1.0 rating in the demo and 3.23 million viewers. As was the case in week one, many people who started watching tuned out before the episode was over. For whatever reason, it just didn’t click.
Lone Star has been cancelled effective immediately and the three remaining unaired episodes have been shelved. There’s no word if FOX will get around to releasing the remaining episodes at some point in the future.
Last week, the cast and crew were shooting the sixth installment. Production has now been shut down and it’s unclear if that episode was completed.
Lone Star’s spot will be filled by the season three premiere of Lie to Me.
What do you think? Are you sorry to see Lone Star be cancelled? If you watched, where do you think it went wrong?
UPDATE: Subsequent reports have indicated that there are six completed episodes with four left unaired.

I thought Lone Star was a great show. I set my dvr to record the next eposode and it recorded something else. I didn’t want to miss any of it, as it was very interesting. Cancel some of the soap opera shows, not the good ones.
I loved the show. So disappointed it was cancelled. Doesn’t surprise me though that fox cancelled it. They don’t know a good thing when they got it. Fox doesn’t have any good tv series shows.
good show but the tv audience were 2 stupid to watch just like jerry springer america
Really was hoping to continue watching this show. The demographic target for this show should be 30 to 60. There is way too much trash I (40ish) can’t relate on tv. This show was promising
I love loved Lone Star. The actors were fabulous and it was well done! I am devastated!
This is FOX. It is hard to believe they had something smart and crisp on at all.
I really liked it. Thought it was one of the better new shows on this season. Forgot to set my DVR to record every show and missed the second one. When I went back to set it to record it started recording Lie To Me. I could not believe they took it off after only 2 episodes. It is hard to watch all the new shows when they start on the same night and at the same time as others.
This was onw of the most interesting of the new shows and Fox just threw it away. I had a terrific leading man and a unique take. What a waste. Fox, you are a loser.
i really liked this show. I thought I was missing it because of the newscorp-cable tv battle but when they connected again, no lone star after house m.d.!!!
but hey, they put it on the same night as dancing with the stars and the event…those are big competition shows.
I really liked this show. Too bad…
I enjoyed the show and was looking forward to seeing the third episode. Don’t understand why it was cancelled and disappointed that it was cancelled.
THIS DECISION SUCKS!!!!!
I loved it. Why do you show garbage like The Cleveland Show and Amercan Dad but cancel something worth watching? You may want to reconsider some of your decisions.
i thought it was great and tuned in to see and Lie to me was on so i changed stations.
First Fox cancels Family Guy, then Futurama, then 24, then this?
Fox has a bad habit of canceling great shows.
Do what you did with Family Guy and bring this back too!
