There was an instant attraction between Ben Parr and Kate Swanson on the new CBS sitcom, Mad Love. Unfortunately, not enough viewers fell in love with the show and it’s now been cancelled after one season.
Mad Love revolves around four young New Yorkers. Two are falling in love with one another while the other two can’t stand each other — at least in the beginning. Ben (Jason Biggs) is a hopeless romantic and an attorney who’s trying to build a relationship with Kate (Sarah Chalke), the girl of his dreams. Larry (Tyler Labine) is Ben’s best friend and co-worker. He and Kate’s roommate, Connie (Judy Greer), don’t like each other but they have a lot more in common that either will admit.
The sitcom debuted on Valentines Day appropriately enough to a 3.0 rating in the ever-important 18-49 demographic and 8.74 million viewers. That was a positive start and seemed to be very compatible with its lead-in, How I Met Your Mother.

Unfortunately, the show’s ratings started declining immediately. Last week’s episode fell to a series low with a 1.9 rating in the demographic and 5.11 million viewers. That was a loss of 27% from the lead-in demo and viewership levels are naturally higher at 8:30 than they are at 8:00.
The 12 episodes of Mad Love that have aired so far have averaged a 2.3 in the demo and 6.49 million viewers. CBS obviously feels that a sitcom in that timeslot should perform better so they’ve cancelled Mad Love.
Two other freshman shows, $#*! My Dad Says and The Defenders were also cancelled today.
The de facto series finale of Mad Love will air tomorrow night at 8:30pm. Sadly it doesn’t look like we’ll find out how the love story would have finished.

Two and a half men has been unwatchable for like two or three seasons now…how I met your mother is starting to lose steam…I can’t stand mosby..I love all the other characters now…in mad love, have to agree that Larry and Connie make this show.
Ugh am watching less and less tv… I guess that’s a good thing for some people…

I love this show!!! I’m so sad-I love this show and hate that the ending still leaves us hanging. I feel like the show would have a lot of room to grow and they could have gone so many different ways with iqut. I love how I met your mother too and as similar as the 2 shows are, they are both unique in their own way. I’m starting to hate that the only shows that stay on air are reality shows!
wtf, that show really grew on me, like connie & larry were to each o/ its nice they started liking each o/ im also glad larry got to hook up w/ that o/ girl but it was bad timing w/ connie walking in at the very end…bad timing like the cancellation b/c I WANNA KNOW WHAT HAPPENS!!!!
i loved this show… mad love was something away from the ordinary… this really sucks… bring it back!!!!!!!

I’m not sorry to see this show leave. Too many details of the show were similar to How I Met Your Mother- even “Ted’s mom” was about to be a stepmother on this show! It may have been a mistake to air this show right after HIMYM because I think it mad Mad Love look like a spin off of the preceeding unique and hilarious show. It was as if who ever came up with Mad Love barely gave it any effort- what was it’s main storyline anyway?
I think this stinks! I love Mad Love. I can’t believe that CBS will keep Hawaii 5-0 but not Mad Love?? That show sucks. The cast was great, it was funny. I just don’t get it.
My husband and I LOVE this show!! It’s one of the few on TV that make us laugh out loud! Bring it back!
I’m starting to HATE TVcomedy shows!! MAD LOVE was a GREAT SHOW!! I’M really going to miss it. Poor Tyler he just can’t catch a break. They should just bring REAPER back. That was an AMAZING SHOW with a great cast!! Witch I’m sure alot of people still MISS!!!!!
I can’t believe it! It was amazing show. Larry is great character. Love him. The best sitcom’s character on TV nowdays.
