Airing on Sunday nights, Masters of Sex has never drawn big ratings and the live numbers plunged in season three. While Showtime doesn’t depend on commercial viewing, this trend can’t be good news. Will this series be renewed for a fifth season or cancelled instead? Stay tuned.
Masters of Sex follows the unusual lives of William Masters (Michael Sheen) and Virginia Johnson (Lizzy Caplan). They’re researchers whose work touched off the sexual revolution. Others in the cast include Caitlin FitzGerald, Teddy Sears, Annaleigh Ashford, Beau Bridges, Allison Janney, Josh Charles, Nicholas D’Agosto, Sarah Silverman, and Kevin Christy.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s chances of staying on the air. The higher the ratings, the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available.

What do you think? Do you like the Masters of Sex TV show? Do you think it should be cancelled or renewed for a fifth season?
Keep Masters of Sex …. great show!!!!
Have enjoyed the series from the start. Given how much more there was to Bill and Virginia’s lives, I definitely want more seasons. All the subplots have been good too. Keep it going!
This show is one of the best on TV right now. I’m so tired of all the garbage on TV. This is a great show!! Masters and Johnson’s story is amazing.
“Masters and Johnson’s story is amazing.”
You do know that the show is heavily, heavily fictionalized – to the point of almost bearing *zero* resemblance to the personal lives of M&J.
The show is decent in terms of quality – but it is basically a fictional soap opera that (increasingly rarely) spotlight a true, real world event in the lives of M&J.
90%+ of the show is fictional – the show’s own disclaimers say as much and independent fact checking only seals the case.
The true M&J personal lives story ain’t nearly so “amazing” or (more importantly for Hollywood) dramatic…
I really like Masters of sex and I think there should be a fifth season. The reason I think that is that this serie is really something new, something clever and with purpose, also can be helpful to some people and the most important thing is that the serie is based on a true story. These people were real, they were alive and revolutionary. They existed and brought some lightening in medicine, in that area particulary. So, let’s hope the producers will continue in fifth season as well.
Of all the crap on TV, the fact that Vice Principals will not be renewed just shows how dumb and shallow people are. I’m guessing they prefer “real Housewives of Somewhere”. How Sad…
