Last week, CBS debuted their newest medical drama, Miami Medical. Their previous new medical show, Three Rivers, didn’t last very long. Will this new one fare any better?
Miami Medical follows the exciting lives of a group of talented surgeons who work at one of the best trauma centers in the country. The CBS drama features Lana Parrilla, Jeremy Northam, Omar Gooding, Mike Vogel, and Elisabeth Harnois.
In its first week on the air, Miami Medical attracted a 1.6 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 7.59 million viewers. That’s not a very good performance but, in the show’s defense, a lot of network programming was down that night.

Last night, for episode two, the other CBS shows saw their ratings rise but Miami Medical didn’t. The doctor show actually fell instead, to a 1.4 rating and 7.1 million viewers. It ranked in first place in overall viewers and tied for first in the demo. On the downside, in the same timeslot, Numb3rs averaged a 1.8 rating and 8.27 million viewers and it’s very likely to be cancelled.
In comparison to other programming, Miami Medical looks positive but the numbers for the whole night are so bad overall that you have to wonder if CBS can make enough money to justify running expensive dramas.
CBS likely won’t make a decision about the show’s future for awhile. They’ve ordered 13 episodes and, unless the ratings take a dramatic dive, they’ll probably let them all air. It doesn’t hurt that the program’s co-executive produced by Jerry Bruckheimer.
But, what do you think? Is Miami Medical worth your time each week? Cancel or keep it?

I could never find the appropriate place to express my feelings as the show was going along and, of course, there is no actual contact information.
I enjoyed every episode of this sitcom and very disappointed to hear of its cancellation. Great cast and interesting plots. I don’t feel 8 episodes are enough of a test. Those who liked it, liked it a lot. Is there a chance of another network pickit it up and giving us a chance at the other 5 episodes? Timing, of course, is everything and a new show starting at 11:00 pm as soon as you leave California is not the greatest. I love the 7:99 pm CTV slot we watched on Sunday night. I hope we will see all the… Read more »
These people are stupid since when is average of 6.8 million people watching a show a bad thing. People in Hollywood are so stupid and they think they know everything. Miami Medical is a GREAT show but you know Hollywood knows everything, PLEASE!!!! It makes me so mad that they are taking this show off the air. I think they should put it in a different time slot like on Wednesday at like 7:00 or something like that. People don’t like to sit at home on a Friday night and watch TV. Man people in Hollywood piss me off!!!!
Everyone needs to go to CBS’s website and complain about Miami Medical being cancelled. It is a wonderful show with a good plot. Ghost Whisperer may be carried by ABC, but I haven’t heard of any network offering to carry Miami Medical. It would be a shame if this great show fell in the cracks like so many other hits.
Please keep this show for another season. I promise I wont DVR it and have it on that channel when it plays so it will count with the nelson ratings.
I really enjoy watching Miami medical because it is all about Trauma.
My husband was in an accident 8 years ago and now has traumatic brain injury. He is a complete miracle to be alive. We have a 13 year old and a 7 year old who enjoys the show.
They are amazed by the medical technology that is out there that can save peoples lives and think it is incredible.
I think anybody that cancels this show is making a big mistake.
Its amazing when you can find a show where the whole family will watch it.
I say Keep Keep toooo… I forgot about Three River Medical too, I like that one too, and after 3 or 4 show you cut that one too.. now I know something you should cut is all these Dam reality show… come on give me a break… Keep the show…
It is a shame, that the networks alway get rid of the Good shows and keep all the Crap shows like the stupid sitcoms. Keep Miami Medical on the air.
Keep!!! please please please!!! i love this show with a passion
This show is absolutely amazing! It had instant and amazing acting chemistry from right from the very start and hasn’t let up since. It is also interesting, engaging, has a fantastic cast and has an extremely well done plot each episode. I can’t possibly name all the reasons why this show is fantastic or else I’d be here typing for a very long time. CBS would be making a massive and stupid mistake by not reconsidering their decision to cancel this. Or for that matter, other networks for not picking it up. It never fails; every time there is a… Read more »
Please keep this show, the characters are sexy and smart and the show has terrific flow! please keep it!!!
Keep it! I love this show and I agree with Marge, it was just starting! I got hooked after the first few episodes. I think the characters are great, and we’re really just getting to know their back stories. I think it should be given more time to develop because it has a lot of potential. Please please keep it running! I will say though that the season finale tonight was more than a little disappointing…unlike other great shows like Grey’s Anatomy which really left you wondering what was going to happen next, Miami Medical left viewers with nothing to… Read more »
This show hasn’t been given enough of a chance to catch on. Give more time for word of mouth to spread please. This show and also Trauma are my favorite shows along with the Good Wife. Please , please give them another chance.
I forgot about Three Rivers, which I also enjoyed but got axed before I could become a fanatic. You’d think with all the money spend developing, casting, and producing shows that CBS would maybe keep some of the quality offerings around long enough to attract an audience. All Miami Medical really needed was a bit of a push, some social media involvement, and more reality-based medical consulting…do hate to see those ventilator patients with nasal cannulas in place! Anyway, I’m fast losing faith in CBS. I’m better off watching the high channels on digital cable at this point.
KEEP IT!!!!!! I’m 19 and I can’t for Friday nights to watch this Miami medical. I love this show. CBS needs to reconsider. Give a chance before you get rid of the show. It’s the best medical show that is on t.v. This show has the best stories and the best characters.
