Last week, CBS debuted their newest medical drama, Miami Medical. Their previous new medical show, Three Rivers, didn’t last very long. Will this new one fare any better?
Miami Medical follows the exciting lives of a group of talented surgeons who work at one of the best trauma centers in the country. The CBS drama features Lana Parrilla, Jeremy Northam, Omar Gooding, Mike Vogel, and Elisabeth Harnois.
In its first week on the air, Miami Medical attracted a 1.6 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 7.59 million viewers. That’s not a very good performance but, in the show’s defense, a lot of network programming was down that night.

Last night, for episode two, the other CBS shows saw their ratings rise but Miami Medical didn’t. The doctor show actually fell instead, to a 1.4 rating and 7.1 million viewers. It ranked in first place in overall viewers and tied for first in the demo. On the downside, in the same timeslot, Numb3rs averaged a 1.8 rating and 8.27 million viewers and it’s very likely to be cancelled.
In comparison to other programming, Miami Medical looks positive but the numbers for the whole night are so bad overall that you have to wonder if CBS can make enough money to justify running expensive dramas.
CBS likely won’t make a decision about the show’s future for awhile. They’ve ordered 13 episodes and, unless the ratings take a dramatic dive, they’ll probably let them all air. It doesn’t hurt that the program’s co-executive produced by Jerry Bruckheimer.
But, what do you think? Is Miami Medical worth your time each week? Cancel or keep it?

Don’t get rid of Miami Medical, I agree put it on a different night, Friday nights are not nights when people are home alot. Don’t cancel it PLEASE
I LOVE THIS SHOW! Please Keep it. If you want to get rid of shows How about some of the reality one’s ????
They just can’t keep the good shows on the air. I love Miami Medical I really think they should give it some more time. I think if they would give it more promo time people would start watching. I would also like to know who makes these stupid and rash decisions.
We are sad that this show won’t return for antoher season. At least episodes are till airing. The cast is great and the story lines are good. Seems like they cancel the newer, good shows and continue to run the tired CSI’s, etc. Who makes these stupid decisions????
this is the best medical show i have ever seen not all that dumb stuff like scrubs. you really get into the characters and i feel for the characters canceling this show will be the worst decision for cbs. i mean come on a bad start on ratings but its a great show with a rocky start but i grantee people will continue watching the show. and more viewers will catch up with the show come second season. and when you can watch shows on the computer who wants too watch it on tv but people will. and cbs should… Read more »
Good show, too bad. and yet they keep all the stupid reality shows…
Miami Medical is a brilliant and well produced show which does not overwhelm the viewer with too much storylines per episode that the viewer can hardly remember why a woman or man slept with a stranger or why an arm must be amputated. Harnois is terrific and cute, Northam is a good addition and Lana is great, with Canadian Kari Matchett added to the cast, there is no shortage of talent or beauty…. PLEASE DO NOT CANCEL ” MIAMI MEDICAL”. It is one of the best shows on the air. The cast is outstanding, the stories are great Instead you can cancel other shows that should not even be on the air they are so bad. Thankyou.
I love Miami Medical and all the characters in this show. I’m not sure it was given a fair chance. Try a different night, please consider keeping it.

this is one of the first series that my whole family has been interested in. We all can`t wait until the Friday night line up with first Ghost Whisperer, Medium. and Miami Medical. The show is uplifting and shows how the characters are more like a family and the chemistery between them makes you keep wanting more. We used to watch House and it got so dark and potetic that this series was just what people need to know that the characters can get along, get their jobs done and do it with out trying to back stab each other.… Read more »
I can not believe Mercy, Miami Medical and Accidentally on Purpose are being cancelled. I love these shows. Mercy is full of comedy and drama with REAL characters. Miami Medical is a great group and you never know what will happen. Accidentally on Purpose is one of the funniest shows on air. You can’t get any better.
I love this show!!!! I didn’t find it right away and wish that it could be given a longer chance for others to find it. I LOVE Miami and these characters and the idea of the show. JB produces the best dramas on tv and this one is no exception. PLEASE keep it on and ditch the reality shows!!! Hurry!!
I definitely agree with Nancy. Miami Medical is so great, intelligent. best medical show on tv. Cancelling it is a travesty. Give a sample of such a good show and then snatch it away. Please reconsider. A lot of people love it.
Please try Miami Medical on another night as it is the best medical show on television. Friday nights find alot of people going out for dinner and etc and not at home. Why is it you always take off the good programs and introduce more and more reality shows which have run their gammet and most are BORING!!
I definitely vote to keep Miami Medical on the air or atleast give them another chance.
