Last week, CBS debuted their newest medical drama, Miami Medical. Their previous new medical show, Three Rivers, didn’t last very long. Will this new one fare any better?
Miami Medical follows the exciting lives of a group of talented surgeons who work at one of the best trauma centers in the country. The CBS drama features Lana Parrilla, Jeremy Northam, Omar Gooding, Mike Vogel, and Elisabeth Harnois.
In its first week on the air, Miami Medical attracted a 1.6 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 7.59 million viewers. That’s not a very good performance but, in the show’s defense, a lot of network programming was down that night.

Last night, for episode two, the other CBS shows saw their ratings rise but Miami Medical didn’t. The doctor show actually fell instead, to a 1.4 rating and 7.1 million viewers. It ranked in first place in overall viewers and tied for first in the demo. On the downside, in the same timeslot, Numb3rs averaged a 1.8 rating and 8.27 million viewers and it’s very likely to be cancelled.
In comparison to other programming, Miami Medical looks positive but the numbers for the whole night are so bad overall that you have to wonder if CBS can make enough money to justify running expensive dramas.
CBS likely won’t make a decision about the show’s future for awhile. They’ve ordered 13 episodes and, unless the ratings take a dramatic dive, they’ll probably let them all air. It doesn’t hurt that the program’s co-executive produced by Jerry Bruckheimer.
But, what do you think? Is Miami Medical worth your time each week? Cancel or keep it?

miami medical is a great show; something different. please keep it on! great stories; loved PROCTOR. WE NEED MORE SHOWS ABOUT FLORIDA. I LOVED CANE. I CAN’T GET THE SEASON ONE DVD; THERE ISN’T ONE. CSI MIAMI, MIAMI MEDICAL; 2 INTERESTING SHOWS ABOUT COPS AND DOCTORS IN THE SUNSHINE STATE!
Please please please do not cancel this show!!! What is the matter with you people? There is nothing else out there except mindless reality papp!!! Please recognize talent when it is there.
Please return Three Rivers and Miami Medical not only did I watche all of the episodes but my husband also loved the shows as he felt the medical characters had depth and feelings. Please bring them back. I was a very big ER fan and I feel that these 2 shows were way better than ER ever was.
Why when you get a good show do you take it off the air. Miami Medical was a great show. The stories could actually happen. They made them really interesting. Just enough personal background with just enough wit. The patients came first. The cast was phenominom. IT’S JUST A SHAME.
i think they should keep Miami medical and in my opinion it is way better then Grey’s Anatomy which i like that show too but Miami Medical is better then it.
Bring it back. Since I have no ER to watch anymore. Quit cancelling the good medical shows. Some people actually learn from them.
This is the first time we have watched this show…..possibly because we did not know it was on prior to this. How do you ever cancel a Bruckheimer????? His shows are the absolute best on the tub!!!!!! Hopefully either you will reconcider cancelling or someone is smart enough to pick this up. Great cast!

How can CBS air a show on Friday at 10:00 PM in the summer and expect people to watch it. I would make sure I was home on Fridays just watch it. I thought it was a great show that had some meaning. Please get rid of the reality shows. They have run their course and seem to be getting more and more dumb!!

What is the matter with CBS? Cancelled Trauma, 3 rivers, and now Miami Medical. I think I will boycott your station. You are all nuts. 3 excellent shows, especially Trauma. No need to cancel any of them and now Miami Medical? If you would stop airing some of these shows on weekends you wouldn’t have to cancel them. When will CBS learn! When you shove new shows on Fri/Sat you know it will fail! BRING BACK the good ones and get rid of the boring reality shows. Yeah they are cheaper but the are boring!
Finally a new and interesting show. Please don’t cancel.
