Becca Winstone’s chase is over. ABC has cancelled Missing, their Thursday night TV series, after one season and 10 episodes.
Starring Ashley Judd, Missing follows a former CIA Agent turned single mom as she searches for her missing son in Europe. The action show also stars Adriano Giannini, Nick Eversman, Cliff Curtis, Tereza Voriskova, and Sean Bean.
Missing got off to a disappointing start on March 15th, registering a 2.1 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 10.60 million viewers. It was in third place for the demo and second place in total viewership.
In week two, the numbers took a significant drop, to a 1.6 rating with 8.81 million. Over the next several weeks, Missing fell lower and lower. The most recent episode hit a new low with a 1.1 demo rating and 6.37 million total viewers.

Overall, Missing’s been averaging a 1.5 rating with 7.70 million viewers. If they had more episodes in the season, those averages would surely keep sinking lower.
On our ABC Ratings Report Card, which measures the relative demo success of TV shows on the network, Missing has a “D-” for a grade. Of the 22 scripted shows on the network this season, Missing ranks 21st — just above the already-cancelled Charlie’s Angels remake.
With low ratings and steep declines, it’s no wonder that ABC decided not to renew Missing for a second season.
The series finale airs next Thursday and will hopefully include enough closure to satisfy the viewers that stuck with it.
What do you think? Are you sorry to hear that Missing has been cancelled? Why do you think the show didn’t succeed? How long should have the show realistically lasted — one season, two, three or more?

I just found out that “Missing” with Ashley Judd will not be coming back to ABC.. This was a very good action show and I also learned that you at ABC have Cancelled new
show called “Last Resort” which was an excellent show, I will never watch another new
show on ABC..

Great show and as many other I was looking forward to the new season only to find out that is was not renewed. Very disappointed in ABC
I LOVED THIS SHOW! It was everything a good show should be–action packed and still full of human emotion. I never missed an episode. I am just sick they cancelled it. I havebeen looking forward to the new episodes and then googled to see what was going on found it cancelled. So disappointed. I am sure it will be replaced with some brainless comedy.
I really think that someone made a mistake by cancelling missing. i never missed a show.
I just finished watching the series. I had it on my DVR for a while. This is one of the best shows I have watched. Had me at the edge of my seat. Very disappointed to hear its cancelled. Wonder how the stats are measured for those that DVR shows because their to busy to watch when the show airs.
Stupid Execs!
This is one of the best shows I have ever seen. What the heck are these tv exec’s thinking taking it off the air?
We are very dissapointed to see that the series of “Missing” has been cancelled after only one season! We thoroughly enjoyed all episodes last season and have been anxiously waiting for season 2!!! We think ABC made a bad decision in cancelling the series!!!
This show would have been a sucess if it aired one more season. Ashley’s politics stopped some of my colleagues from watching the show even if it was great. There was no war on women.
It was a success with just the one season. My husband and I didn’t miss an episode.
So agree the network must be crazy to let this one go, it must have been a politically motivated decision ,not the show itself, it was pure excellence, and everyboody I talked to was raptly watching it and wanting more!
This was one of the shows I actually liked! They were so stupid to let it go,every episode keep me at the edge of my seat!
I could not get enough of this show, cannot for the life of me figure out why everybody was not watching it.
I’m so sorry to see Missing go. I think the network might be missing a few brain cells to let it go.
I am very disappointed with the way they ended this series. I loved it to the very end. Unfortunately, I did not know about it till I saw it on Hulu.com…but I loved it from episode to episode. Ashley Judd is awesome, it was like watching a movie, not some cheesy tv show. To make it worse, it ended with a cliffhanger. How do you end a series with a cliffhanger? I’m not a happy camper. I want more.
