Becca Winstone’s chase is over. ABC has cancelled Missing, their Thursday night TV series, after one season and 10 episodes.
Starring Ashley Judd, Missing follows a former CIA Agent turned single mom as she searches for her missing son in Europe. The action show also stars Adriano Giannini, Nick Eversman, Cliff Curtis, Tereza Voriskova, and Sean Bean.
Missing got off to a disappointing start on March 15th, registering a 2.1 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 10.60 million viewers. It was in third place for the demo and second place in total viewership.
In week two, the numbers took a significant drop, to a 1.6 rating with 8.81 million. Over the next several weeks, Missing fell lower and lower. The most recent episode hit a new low with a 1.1 demo rating and 6.37 million total viewers.

Overall, Missing’s been averaging a 1.5 rating with 7.70 million viewers. If they had more episodes in the season, those averages would surely keep sinking lower.
On our ABC Ratings Report Card, which measures the relative demo success of TV shows on the network, Missing has a “D-” for a grade. Of the 22 scripted shows on the network this season, Missing ranks 21st — just above the already-cancelled Charlie’s Angels remake.
With low ratings and steep declines, it’s no wonder that ABC decided not to renew Missing for a second season.
The series finale airs next Thursday and will hopefully include enough closure to satisfy the viewers that stuck with it.

Three in our household really liked the show & agree with the positive comments I read. Disappointed it is ending & thought it was well done. Wish you would change your minds and bring it back. I guess we will make up our own ending to the saga! But thank you for the first season at least that we enjoyed.
Great action and storyline drama. Loved the show. It was better then CSI ever was and just how many CSIs do we need on TV? What’s wrong with ABC? Everytime a great action show comes on they cancel it off. Bring Missing back!!!!
They cancel is and they make Becca disappear in the last 30s of the last show. Nice!
Are they really stupid or what? If they know they are going to cancel a show, can’t they just make it end properly? They are canceling 2 shows: Missing and the Finder and I’m not going to look for other shows to replace them. That’s 2 hours per week I get back in my life. I’m sure the sponsors will be happy to know this.
I think it was NBC(maybe) that did the same thing when they cancelled Las Vegas. They give is an awesome cliffhanger and leave us hanging forever. Shame on them.

I am extremely disappointed that Missing was cancelled. I wonder if the 8:00 pm time slot may have contributed to its demise though. It was a refreshing change from all the regular crap that now dominates primetime tv. I just don’t think that it was given a fair shot. I am hopeful that it will get picked up by another network – loved the Becca Winstone character.
Let’s see, what did the show have?: Great writing, great acting, great effects, international location shots, drama, intrigue, mystery. Why did it fail?–Simply stated, it wasn’t a reality show. It’s not ABC only that should get the blame but also the American TV viewer whose preferences have obviously sunk to reality shows. The cliffhanger at the end opens the door for at least another half season or resolution on another network in another medium.

I cannot believe they cancelled MISSING. Its one of the BEST show out there…. BRING BACK MISSING.. The show kept you in guessing. What is ABC thinking to cancelled a excellent show.. C’mon ABC BRING IT BACK. They didn’t give a chance. Ashley Judd is one of the best actress out there…………. BRING IT BACK….

I’m in the 18-49 bracket, and I LOVE the show. Ashley Judd is very believable as the strong, caring mother, and I think this show has an amazing potential… Why is over 6 million viewers not enough to at least come back and see if more viewers will watch… Change the night, have it on a Friday or Sunday night, advertise it way more, and give it a chance… Other tv channels don’t have a show like this, and enough reality crap!!! What a shame! The show should have been in a fall lineup to start and on a better nite. It had fabulous location shoots and gave the impression of a great action movie with twists and turns. The acting was great! I had to use my DVR a lot because I was busy most Thursday nights and watched it later . There is such crap on tv these days. I can’t stomach another stupid reality show. I agree with all other comment!! And more. Stupid people running ABC Why end it the way you did??? You should have made a movie out of it, so their was a conclusion , it would have been better then waiting a week for the next eposide. Would have went to see it for sure. WE LOVED THIS! Not happy it won’t be back at all. Please do ANYTHING to get it back. This became our favourite show each week the last couple months.
Full agreement with the other coments. The show was great. Couldn’t wait for Thursday night to get here. Enough twist to keep you off guard. Way better than any of these stupid reality shows that the younger generation is caught up in. Bring the show back.
I love this show. Have always loved watching Ashley Judd. My husband, who normally does not care for much other than sports, also find this show intriguing. Ms Judd has given her “all” in her performance, as well as, some of the other actors. The plot has been excellent. I/we do not like some of the times and “whether or not it will be on this week” problems that seems to permeate most of TV programming. You wonder why people are not watching some shows???
