With a title like Mr. Robot, some television viewers had pretty low expectations for the USA Network series last summer. It ended up being one of the most talked about shows of the summer. Will the ratings soar in season two or will they disappoint? Could it be cancelled? Stay tuned.
Mr. Robot follows a young programmer (Rami Malek) who finds himself at a crossroad. The mysterious leader (Christian Slater) of an underground hacker group recruits him to destroy the corrupt and dangerous firm he’s being paid to protect. The rest of the cast includes Michael Cristofer, Stephanie Corneliussen, Grace Gummer, Portia Doubleday, Carly Chaikin, and Martin Wallström.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s chances of staying on the air. The higher the ratings, the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available.
8/16 update: USA Network has renewed Mr. Robot for a third season. Details here.
Note: If you’re not seeing the updated chart, please try reloading the page or view it here.
For comparisons: The first season of Mr. Robot averaged a 0.48 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 1.39 million viewers.
Note: These ratings are collected by the Nielsen company and are the final national numbers. These are different from the fast affiliate numbers which are just estimates of the actual ratings and are reported on by most other outlets. The final nationals are typically released within 24 hours of the programming or, in the case of weekends and holidays, a couple days later.
What do you think? Do you like the Mr. Robot TV series? Do you think that it should be cancelled or renewed for a third season?
There needs to be a season 3
Definitely don’t cancel this great show. I’m not one for t.v. series but my husband turned me onto this and have been hooked ever since!!!???
Mr. Robot may have done a 0.39 in the final episode. Nice job by the fans to make sure they watched in real time.
i love this show season 3 please
It was already renewed, but the live ratings could drop about 0.28 from last season. That’s awful.
I’ve will watch the final episode of this season. If some of the loose ends of the several directions the series has taken aren’t tied up it will be the last I watch. I feel right now the story line has become so fragmented that without a major coarse correction it will end up cancelled before the end of season 3. The first season was something to peak your interest that you could follow. The second season has been all over the board where the writer appears to be grasping at straws. It seams to be going a hundred different… Read more »
So tired and frustrating trying to figure out what is going on. It’s too much work. I’ll be saying goodbye after this season.
Some shows are good because of character development & good writing. Like the Americans (which is towards the top of my list). If you need to have fast paced adventure for every show you watch, you will not like the Americans or Mr. Robot. You also have to like the characters in order to watch a slow show. Luckily I do like all of the characters on Mr. Robot so I am sticking with it. Almost a bit too slow this year, though…
This is an extremely BORING show. Malek’s monotone is so depressing that it makes me want to cry when it is done. I quit watching at the end of the 3rd episode.
Show went downhill fast, its unwatchable. I mean I download and steal TV for free and I will not waste the bandwidth or brainwidth to watch this drivel.
The show was just renewed for season three. NBC universal wants this show to go on for a long time.
The ratings of this show is so bad. But it landed USA network its first emmy nomination. Nominated for outstanding drama series and best lead actor in a drama. Its won so many awards already. So i guess thats why its still on
USA executives keep talking about this show like it’s what they want for the future of their network. These numbers are so bad, I can’t believe they haven’t all been fired. They used to win the night with like their 5th best show. Covert Affairs and stuff like that. Now they’re precious Mr Robot loses to Wahlburgers. #48 show on Wednesday on cable. Wow.
Bring back Characters Welcome type shows. That’s what your audience wants. Duh.
Speak for yourself. If all you’re worried about are ratings, there are plenty of other crappy (but somehow popular) shows for you to watch. There are very few shows these I stick with, let alone get excited about, and Mr. Robot is close to the top.
I want 3 season please
So, confusing and boring. Get back to cyber attacks and the original story.
With the starting episodes, it was a well followed tvseries, with a well defined screenplay / script !
Now, it is more and more distressing. Why changing sharply a great story against this long lasting dialogues, and boring ‘social’ story tellings ?
How exactly is this up 13%? Only 1 episode in season 1 got a slightly lower rating and it was in the middle of season 1. The season 1 premiere, finale and season average were all higher that episode 1 of season 2.
That number is based on the premiere last year versus this year’s premiere. Each subsequent percentage will be based on the previous episode.
The ratings page for S1 shows the premiere had a 0.46 in the 18-49. How is 0.43 for S2E1 a 13.16% increase over 0.46 for S1E1?
It’s not. The percentages weren’t showing up correctly. Thanks for noticing.
