What’s This TV Show About?
Airing on the CMT cable channel, Nashville continues to follow the lives and careers of country music superstars Juliette Barnes (Hayden Panettiere) and Rayna Jaymes (Connie Britton). Both women face personal and professional challenges as they navigate their paths as artists and individuals. Surrounding them and often complicating their lives are their family, friends and, in some cases, lovers, as well as the up-and-coming performers and songwriters trying to get ahead in the business. The Nashville TV show cast also includes Charles Esten, Clare Bowen, Sam Palladio, Chris Carmack, Jonathan Jackson, Lennon Stella, and Maisy Stella. Recurring are David Alford, Ed Amatrudo, Kourtney Hansen, Scott Reeves, Kyle Dean Massey, Rhiannon Giddens, Bridgit Mendler, Jen Richards, Murray Bartlett, Cameron Scoggins, Joseph David-Jones, Joanie Stewart, and Christian Coulson. Will Chase guest stars as Luke Wheeler.
Season Five Ratings
The fifth season of Nashville averaged a 0.19 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 815,000 viewers. Compared to season four on ABC, Nashville is down by 80% in the demo and down by 81% in viewers. Find out how Nashville stacks up against other CMT TV shows.
On April 10, 2017, Nashville was renewed for a sixth season which will debut in January 2018. On November 27, 2017, CMT announced Nashville will end with season six. Stay tuned for further updates.
Telly’s Take
Although Nashville’s season five ratings may seem abysmal when compared to season four, that’s really a case of comparing apples to oranges. The first four seasons of this country music business drama aired on ABC — a major broadcast network — whereas season five is on the much smaller CMT cable channel. So far, CMT has been issuing press releases touting the ratings records Nashville has broken for them. What’s more, CMT has a deal with Hulu which allows the streaming service to run episodes the day after their CMT debut. This defrays CMT’s outlay for the series. While I cannot guarantee CMT will renew Nashville for a sixth season, don’t let the ratings convince you the show is doomed to cancellation. I suspect it will be back for season six.

What do you think? Are you glad that the Nashville TV show has been renewed for season six on CMT? How many seasons do you think this TV show should last?
PLEASE do NOT cancel NASHVILLE!. It’s a GREAT show that people can relate to, instead of a lot of the crap that’s put on the air theses days! PLEASE PLEASE RENEW for Season 6/7/8/9/10! I want to see what happens next for the cast & watch the girls grow up
I fell in love with this show when it first aired in 2012 and would like to see it stay on for several more seasons. The characters are great, and the music is fabulous. Love watching the young girls growing up and love hearing them sing. I was so upset when Rayna was killed off. Was not expecting that to happen. I will always watch that show no matter what.
Never knew CMT picked up Nashville for season 5 their was no commercials stating that fact. I think alot more people would have watch if their was more advertising. Lucky Direct TV had the 1st 11 episodes on Demand for season 5. Please keep the show going we love it
Most knew where it went…its because the out of touch writers killed Rayna…the show doesn’t carry without Rayna. I’ve tried. The character lines just aren’t strong enough.
It’s a big blow to the series, with Connie Britton leaving the show. Please bring back Laura Benanti, who played the character Sadie Stone, as competition for Juilette Barnes. Your gonna need a heavy hitter like Laura Benanti, to stand up to the Juilette Barns character.
I love the show Nashville! The best show on TV. Please do not cancel it! Even without Rayna, it is an awesome show. Keep it going!
Please do not cancel Nashville. Everyone I know watches this show and loves it as much as I do. I have been watching since it started. This is a great show
I love this show and so do many of my friends and we are much older than your 18 to 49 year old poll. I watched the one of Rayna’s funeral again last night and cried like a baby… It might not be the same without Connie Britton, but its still a great show…
Please bring it back for another season!!!!
PLEASE. PLEASE , BRING NASHVILLE BACK FOR SEASON SIX AND BEYOND, BEST TV SHOW EVER. EVERYONE I KNOW WATCHES THAT AND ARE SOOOOOOOO DISAPPOINTED THAT IT’S NOT ON ANYMORE, PLEASE BRING IT BACK. THANK YOU LOIS TURI
Please renew NASHVILLE for a Season 6!!!! Love the characters and LOVE the music!!!! Been a faithful fan and so have my children. Though we will miss Rayna, we believe the current characters can be developed to carry the load. So much potential!!
I love Nashville, the music and show are great.
this is a great show please do not cancel it
I hope Nashville has alot more seasons, I really enjoy watching the show, however I was really shocked when they had killed off Rayna Jayme’s. I really hope they don’t cancel it.
I love the show. I was really up set when Rayna died but the other actors are great. I just don’ want anyone else taken out. Please continue.
