ABC had high hopes for Off the Map, their new medical drama from veteran producers of Grey’s Anatomy and Private Practice. Unfortunately things didn’t go as planned and ABC has now cancelled Off the Map after one season on the air.
Off the Map follows the lives of six doctors who have “lost their way” and have traveled to a remote South American jungle to try to rediscover why they wanted to become physicians.
The TV series’ cast includes Caroline Dhavernas, Jason George, Jonathan Castellanos, Mamie Gummer, Martin Henderson, Rachelle Lefevre, Valerie Cruz, and Zach Gilford.
The TV series premiered to a disappointing 2.3 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 7.57 million viewers. The show won its timeslot but was disrupted in some parts of the country by coverage of the Tucson Memorial. As a result, ABC reran the premiere Off the Map the following night.
For whatever reason, subsequent episodes of Off the Map essentially drew fewer and fewer viewers each week. The final episode of the season hit a series low and attracted a very poor 1.3 rating in the demo with only 3.80 million viewers.
Despite having some very passionate fans, Off the Map ended up being one of the lowest dramas on ABC. It’s no surprise then that the network has now decided against ordering a second season, cancelling the show. All 13 episodes have aired and we likely won’t find out what became of the young doctors left in the jungle.

clearly it doesn’t matter what you say on these reviews good or bad. I don’t even think anyone from the network even reads them because if they did they would have this show back on in a heartbeat. But apparently it doesn’t matter if you write on here or vote on here or whatever else you do because it does not make any difference. Just discovered this show on netflix. Wish they hadn’t cancelled it. I loved the characters and the storylines. Good tv. Sorry they didn’t pick it up a second season. Guess I’ll stick with USA. They have great shows that seem to get longer runs.
Truly sad that this show is over. I was waiting for the show to return and when I found out that it was cancelled I was truly dissapointed. 🙁 It was one of my favorites!!!!!
“Off the Map” honestly was my favorite tv show out of all the shows I’ve watched. It was an amazing show that could’ve lasted so many season. Even better then “Greys Anatomy”!
Can’t believe they have cancelled this show.

I just watched Season 1 on Netflix and I’m so disappointed there is no season two planned. That was a really good show. Every episode was interesting not like the soapy doctor shows they have on TV. Maybe if they had done a little more advertizing more people would have known it was on and when!
Just watched this on Netflix and was FLOORED to find out there is no season two?? I am seriously confused. The storyline is solid, the characters well developed. and it grabs you (and keeps you ) from the very first episode! I guess this is the kind of thing ABC considers unsuccesful? I think there needs to be another way of determing a shows viability in the current market, because the “crap” that’s left on TV is what keeps sending me to Netflix . . .

No, ABC is going to keep mind-less crap, like 30 Rock and Community, and Parks and Rec on the air, instead of some good shows. They have already canceled almost every show I have gotten interested in this year. I am deeply offened by the choices that this network has made and is continuing to make. I will not be watching anything else that comes on this network, until they get it together.

Just found out no season 2 of Off the Map. I watch Grey’s Anatomy but Off the Map is so much better. I loved this show. Its upsetting that a good show as this one gets cancelled. I so totally was wanting to find out what happened after this last episode.

Wow… I honestly am dumb founded there will be no season 2. I’m at a loss for words. 4:23am here, just finished the season, my eyes watered up in every episode, and there is no more. I hate tv now… “Thumbs Down” -1billion rep slackers!

This was a great show!!! Give it another chance. It was romantic, filled with adventure and laughter. If you leave it with that cliff hanger and never bring it back, you will loose viewers in the future. Some of the best series got canceled and had a lot of passionate fans. Bring it back and you won’t be displeased.
