As expected, NBC has pulled their low-rated new series, Persons Unknown, from the Monday night line-up. Thankfully they haven’t yanked it off the air completely. They’re just moving it to the Saturday night graveyard.
Persons Unknown revolves around a group of strangers who awaken in a ghost town and are unable to leave. The cast includes Chadwick Boseman, Lee Purcell, Jason Wiles, Andy Greenfield, Daisy Betts, Tina Holmes, Alan Ruck, Kate Lang Johnson, Sean O’Bryan, and Gerald Kyd.
The TV show has been performing very poorly so July 5th will be its last Monday night airing. Beginning July 17th, it will show up on NBC’s Saturday night schedule instead.
The Visa Gymnastics Championships will preempt the show on August 14th. Otherwise, it looks like Persons Unknown will run uninterrupted and conclude with episode 13 on September 4th. Producers have maintained that the final episode will properly wrap the series.

If by chance NBC pulls the low-rated show off the air before all of the episodes have aired, fans can take solace in the fact that they’re already scheduled to be released on DVD. Right now, the Persons Unknown: Season One set is scheduled for an August 31st release. That date may change now that NBC has altered their primetime schedule.
NBC has promoted Persons Unknown as a mini-series and, since it’s gotten poor ratings, there’s virtually no chance that it will return to the peacock network for another round.
However, the series was initially produced for international buyers and the studios could decide to make another season, presumably with a new mystery and group of people. The decision to call the forthcoming DVD set “season one” and not “the complete series” seems to support that possibility.
What do you think? Will you keep watching Persons Unknown or wait for the DVD release? Would you be interested in a second season?

Stupid Reality TV…………That’s life
This is exactly why I can not watch tv now because they put all this bull crap reality shows and people like it. But when a interesting show comes on they want to cut it off. I don’t see no promotion for the show on NBC so how do expect people to watch it. These tv networks want that quick money they don’t want to put no work into anything. I’ve heard more good stuff about this show then bad so I don’t understand why people won’t watch it. Now the people who love the show have to wait to… Read more »
I have been entertained since Uncle Milty, Pinky Lee and I Love Lucy. Over these many years “I Love TV”. I understand things change and “persons unknown” have their own opinions of what they like and what they dislike. Instead of wishing all the characters would get killed off why don’t you just change the channel and watch real people try to sing and dance. I love a mystery. Not knowing what’s going to happen next exercises your brain and keeps you wondering what’s going to happen on the next show. What the networks are doing is putting shows off… Read more »
I totally agree with Trayce. Of course I would, as I’m part of the Tuesday morning roundtable she mentioned. Our little group is a diverse group and we all have our favorite shows and they aren’t always the same, but this is one show that we all are totally hooked on. I don’t care what night it comes on, just so we at least get to see the whole thing. And I would LOVE a second season, but I guess that’s too much to hope for. I am still smarting from Flash Forward being pulled, so to lose this one… Read more »
I think this show has a bigger following than some might think. It is a great cliff hanger each week and a whole group of friends can’t wait to round table about it on Tuesday mornings. I can handle the change to Saturday nights but would be very disappointed if NBC yanked it before the series is over.
I love the show. My husband and I watched it every monday that it was on, and when they changed the time slot, I was dissapointed. This show is very entertaining.
I am surprised NBC would trade off Law & Order for this piece of trash. Poor script, similar LOST format, but not even close to quality of that 6 year series and the characters are not likeable, so much so that I keep hoping they will each get knocked off. Law & Order was so well written, even after 20 years it will be missed. NBC, you need to roll some high brow heads.
Come on Tom, Law & Order had a 20 year run. Most shows today are lucky if they see 20 episodes. Persons Unknown may not be to your liking but face facts man. You can’t possibly hold a 13 episode mini-series to blame for a dinosaur of a show getting cancelled.
Sorry, Tom, but if you really think Persons Unknown is similar to LOST, you are either blind, or your haven’t really been watching the show. Persons Unknown is typical TV. They took a fantastic premise and then didn’t quite live up to it (so far, 5 episodes in). Same thing happened with Flash Forward. It’s like everyone races forward because they’ve got a good idea, but they don’t spend the time they need to develop it completely. However, Persons Unknown is still better than most television, and it presents a great situation. I was told about this show by a… Read more »
My husband and I absolutely adore this show. In fact, it’s one of the few week look forward to and watch live. We’ll be so disappointed if NBC decides to pull the show before it ends its natural run.
anything that isnt reality or a dysfunctional family comedy gets pulled it seems… i like a couple reality but being constantly bombarded with them and the same type of comesdy shows something different is a very nice change of pace
I love the show. I am disappointed that NBC is not giving it a chance. I will most definitely get the DVD if the show is yanked.
I think the show is great. I have watched every episode and cant wait for the next.
Maybe NBC should spend a little money promoting the show and try it in a better time slot.
I don’t understand why studios green light stuff and can it without giving it a chance.
I guess NBC has money to burn because it seems more cost effective to promote a good idea than to start all over. At least give a shot.
YANKED OFF THE AIR!??? YOU GUYS MUST BE KIDDING!!! IN MY HUMBLE BUT CORRECT OPINION, “PERSONS UNKNOWN” IS THE BEST CLIFF-HANGER SINCE “LOST”!!! SOME SUMMER REPLACEMENTS ARE TRULY LAME, BUT “PERSONS UNKNOWN” IS A KEEPER!!!
Persons Unknown is a great show and should come on for a second season. Apparenly if something is a little different no one watches it and it gets cancelled. NBC give it a little longer, hopefully people will give it a chance and Im sure they will love it like I do. Please keep it on!!!!!
Persons Unknown was originally produced for the SyFy channel but NBC, it’s sister network, picked it up instead. It was always going to be a limited run series and it was made for a cable channel audience. So it was never going to be a network ratings winner. NBC knew this going in. Now the worse has happened. They’re going to burn-off the rest of the episodes on Saturdays, just like CBS did for Harper’s Island last summer. I actually thank NBC for trying something different in the summer, like CBS did last year. However, I do think they need… Read more »
Hoping season 1 will continue, and then hoping for season 2… Love anything that’s a bit different, and most of them get bl**dy cancelled… 🙂
