NBC has been promoting Persons Unknown as a mini-series and that the show’s mysteries will be answered by the end. The show has not performed well in the ratings so hopefully the network will let all 13 episodes air.
If they do pull the series early, the show is scheduled to be put out on DVD. According to Amazon, it’s scheduled for an August 31st release but that’s likely to change because NBC won’t have aired all of the episodes until early September.
Some readers have noticed that the DVD set is titled Persons Unknown: The Complete First Season
Executive Producer Remi Aubuchon recently told Collider that, when they were shooting it, they did so believing it would be an on-going series. Though they wanted it to go on, he made sure that they answered all of the questions by the end of the first season, to make it a satisfying story for viewers.
Could there be another season? Aubuchon said, “It’s not unheard of, in the course of life, that if there’s enough interest in it, we could consider going a second season or doing another chapter. I keep looking at it as books in a series, and this season is the first book. I feel confident that we will have a beginning, middle and end, in this season, and it was wise of NBC to then call it what it really is, which is a mini-series.”
He continued, “24 is a really good example, in that there was a definitive beginning, middle and end for the first season. They had a slightly different format than we have, but the second season just retained Jack Bauer and a few other players, with the same basic format and idea, but it was a completely different show. I’m not saying that that’s exactly where we’re going, but certainly I think that there’s room for saying, ‘Hey, look, we told one story of a continuing saga.’ You should be able to pick this book up and get to the last line of the season and go, ‘Wow! Well, I hope there’s a second season, but at least I feel satisfied that I got to see all of this. They answered it all for me.”
Unfortunately, it looks unlikely that NBC would be interested in another season but that doesn’t mean it couldn’t return on another channel or in another form.

I just randomly discovered this show in Netflix the other day and am watching it as I type. I love this show! It’s intense and interesting and you really end up caring about the characters. (I love Joe! I know he’s good! And I hate Erika… >:l) Anyway, I really hope they continue on because I love it. Everytime I love a show it gets cancelled… Please keep going!

i feel just about like all thre other all the trash its on tv keeps going but great shows that really draw u in with great cast and writers. hopefully someone will get it together and move on with another season

I freaking LOVE person’s unknown. I was always on the edge of my seat and I am HIGHLY unsatisfied with the fact that it is not going to continue. I was sincerely excited for this summer to see more and very disappointed to be hearing that they will not be producing another season. It just needs to be on a better time (like during the year) and adversitsed better! I really think that this could succeed and everybody I know who’s watched it feels the same. I started watching Persons Unknown on netflix on Monday night and I had the season finished by early Wednesday night. OMG freakin good. I loved the show. Janet seems to have some super powers over people. I am really interested is seeing what could come out of season 2 and like Jesica said 1 season for each level would be FANTASTIC.
PLEASE BRING PERSONS UNKOWN BACK FOR ANOTHER SEASON. PLEASE!
I just finished watching all 13 episodes and LOVED it! I was also a big fan of LOST! I really hope that NBC or another venue will pick this series up! It’s really an awesome and very cool story line! Great acting and very exciting! I want to know what happens next!!!!! Thanks!
we LOVE this show. my husband & i just finished it last night on netflix. i immediately went to see when season 2 would be released, only to find that it won’t! i felt like the show was just getting started & now it’s over? UGH! it’s strange why some shows make it & some don’t. i had withdraws after “lost” ended. in my opinion, “persons unknown” is like “lost”, in the sense that in pulls you in from the first episode. it was really good! really, it’s a shame they won’t continue.
We love Persons Unknown! It always happens we start a new series and they always end up cancelling it. We really want to see whats in store for phase 2. PLEASE continue with a second season.

Hi, about 7 of my freinds and I meet up every week to watch the latest episode of persons unknown. and when the 1st seaosn ended, we were estatic to see the next. But sadly after MONTHS of waiting and finding no results about when it as to come on again, we gave up looking. SO pleas eplease please please PLEASE give us more seaons to get excited about! we were hoping for 10, 1 for each “level” but if thats not possible, just 1 more would be great! tahnx! byeeee

I would have to agree with Barb. Asecond season wuuld not only answer some unknowns, but would probably bring up a lot more questions. Please ‘bring it on’
It never fails that when I really enjoy a TV show it gets cancelled. I would love a 2nd season, answers to questions such as…do Joe and Janet get together? What will happen between Joe and Mark? Will that creepy lady running the program wake up in a hotel room? 🙂 and the best, if a ship is stage 2, where would the “last person standing” go to next in the 10 stages?
