How times have changed. Last year, Revolution looked like it was the big hit of the 2012-13 season. Now, NBC has cancelled it, according to TV Guide.
Revolution revolves around the Matheson family and others who live in a world where there is no longer any power. The cast includes Billy Burke, Tracy Spiridakos, Giancarlo Esposito, Zak Orth, David Lyons, JD Pardo, Stephen Collins, and Elizabeth Mitchell.
Following The Voice, Revolution started out very strong last year but the numbers fell as the season progressed. NBC renewed it for a full season off 22 episodes anyway and relocated it to Wednesdays at 8pm. It’s really struggled in that timeslot and this week fell to a 1.2 demo rating with 3.78 million viewers — an all-time low.
Not surprisingly, NBC has decided not to order a third season. There are two installments remaining and they will air on May 14th and May 21st. The final episode of ABC’s Mixology will also air on the latter date.
What do you think? Did you stick with Revoluton? If you ran the network, would you have cancelled the show or renewed it for a third season?
It is NBC’s fault. They moved it into a timeslot that most shows don’t survive -against survivor and american idol.
This is a great TV show. I agree with everyone else that it was great to see what would happen if we didn’t have electricity. The nano thing was stupid but everything else was awesome. I can’t believe it was cancelled. They need to cancel reality shows and leave the good stuff on TV. Very disappointed in NBC.
Don’t cancel!! The show is great except the nano part that has gone beyond d what I like, but still a great show. Please bring it back!
I love revolution, you don’t need to cancel the series just change a litlle bit the story and more people will like it.
NOOOOOOO! Bring it back!!!
You realize that that numbers decline were in direct proportion to that awful side story that the nanos gained in intellect? How stupid a plot. Go back fire the writer of that idea and rewrite the subplot to take a different direction. It has a natural succession just got weird for a time and the unbelievable, regardless of how probable was too much. I would love to be a writer. And sometimes I believe I could do better than the drivel that comes out of the shows on tv today. just keep it real and it should be great. just… Read more »
Pleeeeeeez bring revolution back! We need more of it. Loved it and miss it! 🙁
Revolution was the best series I had seen in a very long time. I loved the idea of energy poverty and what would happen if all power went out in the world. The sword, gun, and fist fights mesmerized and entertained me. I commend Jeff Wolfe, the shows stunt coordinator, for giving the audience realistic and exciting stunts. Kudos go to Billy Burke for being so snarky and David Lyons for his tormented portrayal of Monroe, a man we love to hate. A special shoutout goes to Zak Orth, for giving me the most incredible scene of Fat Boy Slim… Read more »
One of my favorite shows! How could you?! Bad decision
Come on NBC.. You have to realize that this is a bad decision..
It a great show keep it going
Come on NBC…. REALLY ??? you know what they say ? 1 tells 2 x 2 tells 4 x 4 tells 8 and so on and so on. 3. how many million viewers. to you just a drop in the bucket till you put the 1 tells 2 x 2 tells 4 x etc… into motion. Maybe you should rethink this one. Even us 60 something are fans of “REVOLUTION”
wondering if these viewer stats include the millions downloading / streaming the series via internet directly after the air date, as there is no other way outside the US ?
cancelling it is just so wrong while other stupid series are continued, just saying :/
regards from germany
As a family of five we are disappointed to hear that there is no season 3 of revolution. We loved this series!
I guess 3.78 Million fans and viewers aren’t enough to satisfy greedy corporate networks enough to continue a show? They move it’s time slot and then are disappointed that viewership numbers go down? Where’s the surprise there? I’m personally sick investing my time on a television series only to have some corporate butthead decide the revenue doesn’t allow him to buy another billion dollar home Malibu.
Hey, I know how about another reality show? We don’t have enough of those on the air, that will bring the viewers in for sure! Aholes.
