Mary Murphy has left the So You Think You Can Dance judges table once again and now, Nigel Lythgoe is being joined by Paula Abdul and Jason Derulo. Travis Wall and Stephen “Twitch” Boss are back as mentors as part of a “Stage Vs. Street” twist. Will these changes help the show’s sagging ratings? Cancelled or renewed for season 13? Stay tuned.
Hosted by Cat Deeley, So You Think You Can Dance is a competition that pits dancers of various backgrounds against one another to become “America’s Favorite Dancer.”
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — typically the following morning, around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
9/8 update: You can see the rest of the latest night’s ratings.

Last year comparison: The 11th season of So You Think You Can Dance averaged a 1.25 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 4.11 million total viewers.
Note: These are the final national numbers (unless noted with an “*”). These are different from the fast affiliate numbers which are just estimates of the actual ratings. The final nationals are typically released within 24 hours of the programming or, in the case of weekends and holidays, a couple days later.
What do you think? Do you still like the MasterChef TV series? Do you think it should be cancelled or renewed for a seventh season?
Please, please, no more kids dancing. This format is such a disappointment to years of loyal supporters of SYTYCD. A shame to even share the name. I’m OUT!
Please save the show – no matter how disappointing it was in season 12, it is still one of the best reality show – where can you find better choreographs and dancers in other shows? Yes, please go back to previous program. We don’t mind to see few street dancers, but most of us still prefer trained dancers with more various dances (i.e. ballroom dances, tap dances). The street dancers took away slots from those better dancers in auditions. Mary Murphy is good, except yelling too much. I really miss those guest judges – Debbie Allen, Christine Applegate, Mia Michael,… Read more »
All the comments have great and valid points. I have loved this show from day 1 season 1. through this season. This season was okay but they have gotten away from the real conception of the show. I miss the old choreographers, the panel of Judges. I miss watching Dancers who have no formal training learn different dances and techniques by the end of the season. I loved seeing all-star dancers come back as choreographers and judges in the audition process especially since they have been through it. I loved the All star concept that started in season 7 because… Read more »
This seemed like a setup. The contest already rigged. Jajah won it, anyway you look at it…Gabe did not. Look at Jaja’s following on FB and Twitter, Gabe’s pages cannot compare. I believe since Jaja had no formal training, that she would lose no matter what. JLO would not allow a dancer that is not trained to be in her video. Dancing politics. Such crap.
I agree. Jaja was definitely happening. She may not have mastered as many classic dance moves as Gabe, but she had charisma and the “it” factor. No matter how good her partners ever were, you could not take your eyes off Ja Ja. She should have won it all.
I have watched the show since the first episode. What a major dissapointment this year’s show has been. I can barely watch. If it does return in 2016 then they need to pay Mary Murphy a king’s ransome to return and Paula as well as Jason need to go. The stage vs street was a bad idea. They need to keep the best dancers and not worry about the percentages of street dancers. That remain. You are either a good dancer or not.
I have been a die-hard fan from the very first episode. This season hurts. I was no huge fan of Mary’s, but I sure do miss her now. How desperate were they to even think that Jason could ever be a judge on the show. To say nothing of his lack of articulation skills, he simply doesn’t know what he’s talking about 99% if the time. Worse, he condescends to the dancers, even to the highly trained stage dancers, which is grossly insulting since he couldn’t possibly know anything he’s talking about. All Jason does on the show is pose,… Read more »
I have learned to appreciate so many forms of dance watching this program from the beginning. Definitely have learned to enjoy and appreciate much of the street dancing. But this year has turned into a total flop. Judging is poor. Choreography is no where near as good. The format is abismal. Time for the program to go. Such a shame because I think the program had really helped recognize and improve the aspiring dancers in this country. I will miss it.
Judges Nigel, Paula and Jason head to Detroit to check out the best Stage and Street dancers in the Motor City. It s a new season with new judges and a new format on the season 12 premiere of SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE!
i am so disappointed in this years show.. My family all feel the same . I do not even listen to what the judges say. Their comments are stupid. These stage dancers have taken dance lessons all their lives, and to compare them to the street dancers is really wrong. I hate the jerkin and poppin. The smooth graceful beauty is gone . The dances such as “The Bench”,”The Door” “the Bed. Are not there any more . Jim is gone. Sad. I don’t even have to watch is to know the outcome of this years show . One of the… Read more »
I’ve watched this show from the very first one. However, I will not be watching it any more. When the voting is so “fixed” and unfair, I won’t waste my time. Some of the comments of the judges were so stupid I can’t stand listening to them anymore. If the judges are really as truthful as they should be, Jim would have been the winner for this season. I should have learned my lesson from the very first season. Travis should have been the winner then. What a waste of my time and what a “fixed” show. I bet you… Read more »
I have watched this show from the beginning. Sadly, it has devolved into nothing but street dancing this season….low level, no grace, no sophistication, just crude, down and dirty androgynous tripe. Sorry to see beautiful dancers turn into such debased tribal garbage.
Agreed. This show has become sad, indeed. I too have watched the show from the first season, when it immediately became my favorite. This new gimmicky season broke my heart.
“Tribal”? Be aware of modern dance in this country. The masters of the street dancers are also accomplished choreographers. Take a look at our country. We are a diverse people from many countries and have home grown dance styles infused in the mixture.
I’m enjoying this season’s Street vs Stage. Change can be good if people embrace it. The dancers are all amazing and i’m having a hard time with selecting just 1 or 2, but Jim and JaJa are probably my favorites. Such talent from all. I do miss Mary Murphy but l think that Jason and Paula are doing well. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the new choreographers! …and the seasoned ones are always amazing.
