Variety reports actor Michael Fowler has been cast in the Speechless TV series pilot, for ABC. Speechless stars Minnie Driver as Maya, a protective mother of three.
Per the report, Fowler has landed the role of JJ, a non-verbal child living with special needs. Fowler reportedly has Cerebral Palsy, in real life. He joins Driver, John Ross Bowie, Cedric Yarbrough, Kyla Kennedy, and Mason Cook.
A newcomer to television, Fowler made his big screen debut in the 2014 feature film, Labor Day, starring Kate Winslet and Josh Brolin.
Kennedy is set as Maya’s daughter, Dylan, the middle child. As previously reported, Cook plays the younger son, Ray.
Speechless is from Scott Silveri and 20th Century Fox TV. Jake Kasdan and Melvin Mar are executive producing with Silveri, who is set as writer.
What do you think? How do you like the Speechless TV show cast, so far? If it is ordered to series, do you plan to check it out?

Love Love the show!!! I am a former Special Education teacher, School Psychologists and have a daughter with Bi-Polar Great choice of cast and politically correct in all ways!
The show speechless is absolutely wonderful! I am the mother of a disabled child, who has Cerebral Palsy. He is also non verbal but, he understands everything. I have expressive conversations with him all the time and he’s hilarious . It’s nice to see a family on television that looks like my own. I think this show will open people’s minds up and they’ll be more willing to start interacting with a person with a disability . You have a faithful viewer over here!
We love Hawaii 5o. Please keep it. Our only complaint is the bickering between Dano and Steve. Love the scenery as well.
Thanks for your comment, Cindy.
Just saw the commercial for this show. As a mother of a non verbal, adult special needs man, this show looks terribly offensive! I will never watch it!
You should watch it once. It was funny not offensive. Read the other comments above. We all have special needs children and can relate.
